cd=cruise Posted September 12, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 12, 2005 Do the balconies on the Jewel have a plexy glass railing or bar railings? We are booked in a balcony and will then have our 2.3 year old with us and want her to be able to enjoy the balcony. If it has bars she will not be allowed out there even though we will be out there. If it's the same as Serenade (sister ship), it's plexi & rather tall. She'll be fine. Barb
cruiselvrs Posted September 13, 2005 #3 Share Posted September 13, 2005 The Jewel has a solid piece of glass with a wood ledge on top. You should be fine.
SUZCRUZ Posted September 13, 2005 #4 Share Posted September 13, 2005 Is she a climber?
larkwind Posted September 13, 2005 #5 Share Posted September 13, 2005 FYI--we were on the Millenium (also a plexiglass/wood railing) w/3yo son. Took bubbles to blow over railing and he jumped:eek: for them. He was standing on the chair and the railing is quite high, so there was really no danger, but it gave my heart a shock. He absolutely loved playing out there(supervised, of course) and we have a cute picture of him wrapped in his kid-sized bathrobe on the loungechair enjoying his cruise. He's looking forward to showing his older sisters and brother our (huge, hump!) balconies on our next cruise--their first and his second. We were sailing at a low time with few other kids on board so he got lots of attention from the crew. Some of them knew him by name and we'd never seen them before! Enjoy the beaches and the necessarily slower pace of cruising with a little one. They grow up sooo fast!
