JamesGNYC Posted May 22, 2015 #51 Share Posted May 22, 2015 seems pretty bush league on NCL's part that they need to re-book your rooms if you add a beverage package, how does that make sense? With today's technological tools on booking rooms, something of this nature is inexcusable. Next time just buy your beverage packages once you're on board
BecT Posted May 22, 2015 #52 Share Posted May 22, 2015 The thing that rings odd here is the idea that the TA somehow could not only identify who was in the original cabins, but the TA was able to contact and negotiate a potential move with these people. That simply does not happen. There is no way that a TA can see who is in another cabin, and no way that a TA could access another guest's contact information. Unless...it was your TA who personally booked these people into the original room. That would be the ONLY way this might occur. It really sounds to me as though the TA is feeding you a line. I'd shop elsewhere. I'm not so sure about the TA not knowing info about other people in cabins. I say that because several years ago I sailed in a Royal Suite on Explorer of the Seas that i booked directly with RCCL and within 1/2 an hour of boarding a man came to our suite who was staying in an owners suite and asked to pay us money to switch rooms with him. He knew when we booked our cruise, how much we paid, how many were in the suite, and that we were sailing with 4 other people in two inside rooms across the hall from him. Since the time we boarded to the time he showed up at our door, none of our party had left the royal suite. When I questioned him about how he obtained all of our information he inferred it was from his TA. I declined to "sell" our suite to him, but everytime I ran into him he kept saying he had a lot of money in his pocket if I should change my mind. I complained to RCCL while on board and of course they said it wasnt them. Ironically, the husband of the couple dining at our table worked for RCCL in their resolutions department and even he didn't do anything to try to find out how our info was leaked to this man. It's possible the OP's TA had more access to info than one should have had.
2red4u Posted May 22, 2015 #53 Share Posted May 22, 2015 Wow that's a crappy thing to happen! I do hope you don't make the cruisers in those cabins miserable though. Your TA did you wrong and could possibly be lying about the offers she made to those other cruisers, and never even contacted them!
fergusonvt Posted May 22, 2015 #54 Share Posted May 22, 2015 I always book directly with the cruise line. I'm able to complete my online check-in (except for luggage tags and cruise documents) as far in advance of my cruise as I want and I check it often to ensure there aren't any changes plus if I make a change myself I get an email almost immediately. My advice is to enjoy your cruise and try to get something out of the TA for this. The ships aren't that big that you'll have a horrible time if you aren't across the hall. daffodiliaz Posted May 22, 2015 #55 Share Posted May 22, 2015 The people in my original rooms were offered the same balcony rooms just across the hallway together, but declined because they wanted mini suites, which they also declined because they didn't want to be on deck 12. Recently they asked for a beverage package as well. This almost sounds like you know the other passengers. Is this some sort of group?
fergusonvt Posted May 22, 2015 #56 Share Posted May 22, 2015 I honestly can't blame the other passengers who were given the rooms for not wanting to switch. When I pick a cabin I wouldn't switch it unless something really good was offered. Mini suite probably wouldn't do it for me alone because there isn't much difference in the size of the balcony. As far as they know they booked available cabins and may have gotten exactly what they wanted. All the blame here goes on the TA in my opinion. It's possible the OP's TA had more access to info than one should have had. There is no way another TA would know all that information about YOU. The only one who would know that would be your own TA - In this case - Royal Caribbean - so someone at Royal had to have given that information to him. TA's do not have access to other agents bookings or those made directly with Royal Caribbean.
maryisme Posted May 22, 2015 #58 Share Posted May 22, 2015 Hi OP, Nothing new to really add - sorry this happened. We just got off the Breakaway in April and we were a group of 3 cabins also. One was not near the other two and we just met up at breakfast to discuss day. In any event, you will love the Breakaway. We had a great trip- have fun!!! ncklhaus Posted May 23, 2015 #59 Share Posted May 23, 2015 The 'other people' was her son and her daughter. Harriet From what I read I figured they were her grown son and daughter. Even more reason not to be right next door.
ellopoppet Posted May 23, 2015 Author #60 Share Posted May 23, 2015 You are correct. I paid for my beverage package. When I called I did not qualify for the free promo. I receive a discount but it was not free.
ellopoppet Posted May 23, 2015 Author #61 Share Posted May 23, 2015 Thanks James. Next time I will do that. This is the first time I purchased an ultimate beverage package.

There is no way that purchasing a cruise enhancement (like a shore excursion or a beverage package) after you have booked should result in a change to your cabin. It sounds like your TA screwed up big time, and you should be all over them about this. Regardless, I hope you have a wonderful cruise.
ellopoppet Posted May 23, 2015 Author #64 Share Posted May 23, 2015 I know it is probably unusual but oddly enough all my kids love to spend time with me and my husband and we enjoy their company as well. We have fun together go figure! I am really lucky to have such great kids.
ellopoppet Posted May 23, 2015 Author #65 Share Posted May 23, 2015 Thanks and yes I am on top of it. I leave tomorrow and just need to put this all behind me right now and focus on being on vacation.
ellopoppet Posted May 23, 2015 Author #66 Share Posted May 23, 2015 I have to say that my TA was working his butt off trying to get my rooms back only to be shut down by the new occupants and NCL. My TA has given my two rooms that were moved a VIP package and some OBC. Although it doesn't get my rooms back it helps ease the pain a bit. At least I feel like he truly cares. I did speak to a NCL resolutions specialist. The conversation was very scripted and I did not feel as if he cared at all. I felt more frustrated than ever after speaking with him. At this point it is what it is. We leave tomorrow.

gmazz Posted May 23, 2015 #68 Share Posted May 23, 2015 ellopoppet I would feel the same as you if this happened to me. We went on Disney's Wonder to celebrate our 20th anniversary with family. We had 4 rooms in a row and would not have been happy if anyone was separated from the group but would not have let it ruin my vacation. I had my 2 girls who were 16 and 12 at the time and my niece's who were 9 and 11. My parents and in-laws were with us also so when they went to visit each others cabins and their grandparents they were just next door. Although disappointing and not as planned you have an amazing trip ahead of you and many wonderful memories to make. Just remember how lucky you are to at least have everyone on the Breakaway with you and have a great cruise!

You are right, I do it all the time and I've never had my cabin changed. I also changed my two reservations to take advantage of the new perks and my cabin wasn't changed there either. Demonyte Posted May 23, 2015 #70 Share Posted May 23, 2015 I have to say that my TA was working his butt off trying to get my rooms back only to be shut down by the new occupants and NCL. My TA has given my two rooms that were moved a VIP package and some OBC. Just that you know, what your TA calls "VIP package" has nothing to do with VIP perks with NCL so if you know about what actual VIPs on NCL ships might get as perks, do not get your hopes up as those perks are nothing that a TA could buy for you. :)
ellopoppet Posted May 23, 2015 Author #71 Share Posted May 23, 2015 NCL VIP'd our two rooms that were moved. My TA forwarded the email to me from them.
Demonyte Posted May 23, 2015 #72 Share Posted May 23, 2015 NCL VIP'd our two rooms that were moved. My TA forwarded the email to me from them. That is interesting. Did the email specify what that "VIP-ing" consists of?
pizzalady1 Posted May 23, 2015 #73 Share Posted May 23, 2015 That is interesting. Did the email specify what that "VIP-ing" consists of? When I was VIP'd I received food things every afternoon--chocolate strawberries, canapies, chocolate cookies, etc. Nothing else. As a matter of fact, it was confusing to check in. The regular line said that I was VIP so I had to go to the VIP (suite) line who said I did not have a suite so I had to go to the regular line. At that point I sat down and said I was not moving again so someone better figure it out and take my pic. The suite line went over to get my docs, then they took care of it all after that. EyeSeaEwe Posted May 24, 2015 #74 Share Posted May 24, 2015 One thing to consider. When you book multiple cabins, make sure the reservations are 'linked'. As NCL (or yoru TA) to ensure that this is done. This is the key to letting anyone know who is doing anything with any of your reservations know that they belong to each other. shealea Posted May 24, 2015 #75 Share Posted May 24, 2015 Have a wonderful cruise! Post back to let us know about your time. I can imagine how disappointed you were with your cabins being changed. When planning a cruise many of us put so much thought and research into making it just how we want it. We try to plan the best cruise ever!!!!!!! So when cabins would be changed, I too would be upset. I am one that gets things set in my mind on just how I want things, and when they don't happen like I plan, I get a bit "wigged out"! ha! But not for too long. Then I settle in and go with the flow. I just know your cruise will be fantastic and things will be just fine. Have a great time!!!!! I envy you and wish I was leaving on a cruise!!!!! Yes!!!!
