Animal Farm Posted June 16, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 16, 2015 My Freedom Review 30 May – 6 Jun 2015 Pro: FTTF – Our first time with FTTF and I don’t want to cruise again without it! Absolutely worth the $$. We checked in around 10:30 am and only waited 15-20 minutes before we were headed up the ramp to our rooms. It was such a great feeling to be able to drop off the bags and head for lunch. I had to visit guest services 3 times and never waited more than 5 minutes. I was glad that the service representative insisted a guest, that wasn’t FTTF, go back into line even though the guest was loud and rather obnoxious about her being waited on. We used FTTF for debarkation and it couldn’t have gone smoother. The night before we left we were given instructions on where to meet at 7:30. We actually went to the meeting place at 7:15 and were off the boat by 7:30. We walked over to the shuttle bus and were dropped off at our vehicle by 7:40 and out of the parking lot by 7:45. Pro: We enjoyed all of the productions with the exception of “Getaway Island”. The comedians were good and the adult shows are REALLY only for adults. Several parents escorted their youngsters out after the show started. They were warned before the show started! Pro: Dining Room – we had the 6 pm seating and our wait staff was exceptional. They definitely deserved the extra tip we gave them. Pro: Pool loungers were always available. The smoking areas seemed to be kept clean and we were not bothered by the smoke when we walked by. The casino smoking section was rather overpowering so we didn’t spend as much time as we would have liked in the casino. Cons: Havana Bar makes horrible drinks. Lol Cons: Fish and Chips were not very good. Oysters and fish fillets were undercooked. Cons: Tea Time – not so good. Tea cakes looked delicious but they were dry and tasteless. We sat for quite a while before we were offered any tea or cakes. I’m glad we tried it but now we can cross that off our bucket list. Make sure you have a sense of humor if you order room service. Food was tasty but rarely did they get our order right. We ordered 2 carafes of coffee, 2 carafes of hot water, creamer and croissants for 3 people on every sea day morning. Only 1 morning did they have the order correct. We actually took bets every time we ordered room service on what they’d deliver. It became a game we played before we started our day and it made everyone laugh. My brother-in-law slept in late every sea day so we excluded him from our room service game. Make sure you tip them because they do try hard to deliver it on time and (occasionally) correctly. Lol Ship was always clean and the staff was great. Everyone seemed to have a smile on their face and always said hello when they saw you. Décor was fine but I don’t pick a ship for the furnishings. We would definitely go on the Freedom again. Overall we had a fantastic time and most important we got our husbands “hooked” on cruising.
cruiser fanatic Posted June 16, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 16, 2015 Thanks for the review. I was on the Freedom the week before you and we had a great time. I also agree that Getaway Island is horrible. It just seemed corny to me. Getaway Island and Win are the worst shows I have seen on Carnival. SMSACE6 Posted June 16, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 16, 2015 Thanks for the balanced review! I agree with the FTTF! Freedom is the only ship that I have sailed twice on. Had an awesome cruise both times.:)

luvabargain Posted June 16, 2015 #7 Share Posted June 16, 2015 I got off the Freedom on Saturday the 13th and am starting an in-depth diary type review. I had a different experience with my pros and cons, but absolutely love the Freedom and would sail her again. I completely agree about the adult comedy , and the room service was the same way with us, but we only used it a few times. I love reading reviews of all the ships, and had a hard time finding a lot about the Freedom before I sailed her, but there were a few.
