twice now where I've gotten FCCs from a comped & upgraded cruise where the amount given in credit was more than I actually paid for the cruise out of pocket. (This was not a 25% bonus thing as the first time well predated the pandemic.)

This happened to me once.  In fact, it was for the very last cruise we took back in Feb 2020. It was the very first COVID [partial] cancellation (turned out to be a false alarm).  Our FCCs were more than our total cruise fare.  Not sure it was 25% more but it was definitely more.  We also received some OBC on that one so we really made out !

Continuing this particular tangent, our first cruise in a grand suite... the cruise where we met you, @RFerrington!... was the time that we had this happen. We had been comped a balcony, then upgraded cheaply to a junior suite, and then upgraded for something like ~$100 more to a grand suite shortly before sailing.

During the cruise, we noticed a couple of really minor issues with the cabin that we wanted to point out so they could get addressed in the future. One drawer was a little hard to open (it got "stuck"), and one of the two sinks in the bathroom drained somewhat slowly.

When my travelling partner informed the concierge, he was in shock and absolutely apologetic. My friend stated repeatedly that it wasn't a problem and we were just letting them know.

Shortly before we disembarked, the concierge gave us a FCC for 25% of our cruise fare. The problem was that it was for 25% of the total fare (or some number closer to that) rather than in any way being based on what we paid. 25% of the total was greater than our comped/upgraded fare.

We were on Harmony for Noro cruise in January 2019. Missed two ports and we came back a day early. Laura had used her 2018 Prime tier cert for the trip.

Anyway, we got OBC for port charges and for missing final day, and I got FCC for quarantining one day. Then we got the entire certificate re-issued. 😇

When was your last cruise? Winter 2020?

Our last cruise was Jan 2020. Had March booked. That was first of many cancels. The wife and I are both Prime. That will be gone come spring. We get offers from 3-4 cruise lines. Still getting free cabins from Royal. I guess they want us to cruise again. We would when the games stop.

That did make me think about a way in which RCI was unfair in not giving me as much money as I thought I should receive. I was quarantined for two days due to norovirus. My husband mostly stayed in the cabin (not to potentially infect others, and he just wanted to take care of me), but I'm the only one who got a credit for quarantine (fairly so).

However, because the ticket purchased was BOGO50 and I was the second name on the booking that time, I got credit for 2 out of 7 days on 50% of "my" part of the fare... you know, because I'm apparently a lesser passenger. It doesn't make sense that one passenger being quarantined for 2 days would get a $300 credit but if it were the other person, they'd get $600; yet, they are a couple traveling together.

In my mind, they'd base the credit on the average fare paid for the first two passengers (3+ should probably be based on their actual fare, but less clear), but with this horrible BOGOn%-off coupon, there are games like this.

Quick question for the experts here.

Do we not get shareholder obc on our comped cruises. Specifically our annual tier cruise. Seems that woukd be true.

I have a casino comped cruise on 8/14, the email in response stated that the stock OBC is not combinable. Oh well!

I've had one of these, too !!

In Dec 2019 we were on a casino upgrade on Oasis.  There were some issues (no need to recount them) and the Genie told us that we would be receiving a 20% FCC for our troubles.  Even on a casino upgrade, the cruise fare involved was fairly significant (from interior to a Star Loft Suite) but lo and behold, the 20% FCC was only calculated on the original comped interior cruise fare !  It was basically "free money" so I really didn't have any legitimate beef except for the fact that I thought it was a little sketchy to consider the comped interior cruise fare to be representative of what we spent to be on that cruise.  I did dispute it with my TA but she told me that they wouldn't reconsider.  So I've both made out and lost when it comes to FCC's.

It's been a long time since I requested a shareholder obc, but I was told it was not combinable with a deal I got from a travel agent that included a nice credit.

I applied for 10 cruises. Casino one was only one not honored. 8 were booked thru a TA, one was my free 1400 pt cruise thru C&A

Thanks, that's good to know! I guess the denial was specific to the deal I booked. I thought it meant the shareholder benefit was never combinable with other offers.

There seems to be something for Signature as well. I see this on my ClubRoyaleOffers page:

My USPS offers stopped and I've not gotten offers via email in a while, so this is the only way I know about these. I'll have to call to find out what this is.

I called to inquire. This is an offer for a sailing on Symphony of the Seas on December 3, 2022.

I booked it two days ago and got a balcony, but only Deck 6 and 7 was available.  And I booked pretty quickly after learning about it and then seeing it listed on my offers on the website. I never got the email about the cruise.

Yep, we just got this as well, first an email & a real nice invite in the regular mail. But it would have been nice if they sent it earlier or had it at a later date. With all the offers we get, already busy that week. And I'm sure many of the casino players  already have other plans as well. So, I wonder how many will be able to go for both the masters & signature events in Nov & Dec.

Just booked a free 8 day using an offer available online.  Offer was to expire today- glad I checked my online account. Got an outside cabin for 2 — total cost $430 for taxes, etc.  Sailing 12/1 from Baltimore.  Love when the ships are decorated for Christmas.  Katherine

I have a free 7 day offer for a balcony or ocean view plus an OBC. I need to decide which ship I want to book.

Curious, is this something new to RC, or is this something they have done in the past?

Pre-pandemic, they did a few special events scattered throughout the year. One would get invited to a particular sailing, offered a cocktail party and private slot tournament and maybe even a round of golf in Bermuda. They also had offers where you'd board with your old, beat-up suitcase, get your brand new Tumi one, and go home with that. (I didn't see the appeal of that one myself.)

I assume they'll start ramping back up again.

Before covid, they had some really nice event cruises.  We went to one short one on the mariner, which had casino events on the ship, & then free tickets to suite area at the Miami Marlins baseball game, the same day you left the ship. Free drinks & food while you watched the game. Then we went to a Christmas party on the navigator, where they had casino events, & a holiday party & grabbag of real nice items, supplied by the casino. Another was a wine testing event in the casino & in dazzles. And an Easter casino event where they had an egg hunt in the casino for freeplay.
