Romeril Posted June 24, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 24, 2015 Hello, We are booked on a Med. in October 8 nights. I am very confused how the shore excursion packages work How many "selected tours" need to be booked for an 8 night cruise to qualify for what discount? Do you choose from the full menu of excursions or a limited menu of the cruise lines choosing? What exactly is the ":World passsport option" I am unclear. I will probably end up doing private, but I want to explore this option for potential ease. Also would want to avoid big bus tours. I see Oceania offers smaller groups, would these be included in the menu for discounts? Thanks, D.
sitraveler Posted June 24, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 24, 2015 (edited) There will be a minimum number of tours, probably about 5, required to get a discount from individual prices. There is also an unlimited package that allows you to select certain tours from each port at a fixed price. The costly tours are not included in the unlimited package without a significant surcharge. When we priced our choices vs. unlimited it didn't pay. You cannot use shipboard credit to pre-book. If you can join or form independent tours I believe you'll be happier. If you haven't joined your roll call, you should. Edited June 24, 2015 by sitraveler .
travelglobetrotter Posted June 29, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 29, 2015 can be purchased on board the day of embarkation, using OBC. We did this last year for a 7 day Med cruise, and it was a good deal for us. We prefer private tours, but the roll call had so few members that it wasn't feasible.
