golfb4cruzing Posted June 29, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 29, 2015 Our next trip is on the Conquest but never seems to be too much talk or reviews on here about the Conquest. We are scheduled for a 6 day, next April, so info would help. I am already aware of no Serenity but hopefully going after Spring Break, the amount of kids should be minimal. We always cruise with a balcony so we could retreat if need be. Thanks for your thoughts
carolinaviking71208 Posted June 29, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 29, 2015 I cruised the Conquest back in December 2013. Loved her enough that my next cruise is a 14 night b2b (8nt/6nt). Great ship!

golfb4cruzing Posted June 29, 2015 Author #5 Share Posted June 29, 2015 Sporadically someone says "great ship" but it's rare she is spoken of on here. We have a group from FB going and we have never met each other so it should be a great time. All the ships are well maintained and food is subjective. But it's nice to read of a fun experience onboard. Thanks for the responses.

NCTribeFan Posted June 29, 2015 #7 Share Posted June 29, 2015 I see someone already linked my review. Thanks. Yes, you do see the ship names at the top of the page, right? They're all right there. And more. There used to be a Conquest-only thread. I love those "All Things Shipname" threads and it would be SO helpful if the mods would create a folder at the top of the board and have one dedicated thread per ship stored there. Oh well. I'm not in charge here (I know, it's difficult to tell some times, isn't it? :p ).
mrpayroll Posted June 30, 2015 #8 Share Posted June 30, 2015 Sometimes not reading anything about a ship is good. Seems like more of the dissatisfied cruisers come back and complain about things. :)

13cheermom Posted June 30, 2015 #10 Share Posted June 30, 2015 Sailed on her last October, and ship was fine. Really didn't care for the theme of the ship and color palette. Just returned from the Glory few weeks ago and preferred it over the Conquest. Also the fact it doesn't have a serenity deck is disappointing, they have all that open deck space just vacant could easily been redone. It's good that they do have all the 2.0 upgrades though. Just wouldn't choose that ship again if I had a choice.
love my grandkids Posted June 30, 2015 #11 Share Posted June 30, 2015 We have been on Conquest twice and two great cruises. Only complaint is the party band plays accross from Casino so rather noisy and smoky and not a good place to listen to music.
jcearth Posted June 30, 2015 #12 Share Posted June 30, 2015 (edited) We have been on Conquest twice and two great cruises. Only complaint is the party band plays accross from Casino so rather noisy and smoky and not a good place to listen to music. We were on the Conquest last September and they did limit the smoking to the back part of the casino bar and smoke wasn't much of an issue for the performances. Maybe we didn't have much in the way of smokers on that particular cruise, but I felt that the casino bar area was handled much better in terms of smoke than our previous cruise on the Dream (the casino bar was a complete ashtray on that one). If Mike Pack is still on the ship next April, prepare to be entertained. I don't follow the individual cruise directors much, but that guy did an amazing job, and made sure everyone was having a good time. I was not a fan of the Lido deck on the Conquest -- for families with kids, there were no good areas of shade (the aft pool is adults only and provides the best opportunities for shade. Also, the water slide was weak and slow - we are going to stick with ships with Waterworks going forward. I did enjoy Guy's and Blue Iguana, however. According to John Heald's latest CD schedule, Mike has moved on to the Glory through at least this December.

sc4125 Posted June 30, 2015 #16 Share Posted June 30, 2015 I will be on the Conquest in 12 days!! It will be my first time on this ship & I'm looking forward to it. My question is - when I see people writing about the fact that it doesn't have a Serenity area - isn't the aft pool adult only? For me that's all I want - a place to get away from the little guys. I normally cruise when school is in session, so this will be the first time in a LONG time that I'll be onboard with a large number of kids. Don't get me wrong, I like kids - I work with them almost everyday - but not while on vacation. So, is the problem that they don't enforce the "adult only" part, or what? I've been on ships with the Serenity area & other than the Legend, the ones I've been on only have the hot tubs & no pool - I'd much rather be near a cool pool in July than a hot tub. Anyone on recently that can tell me how the aft pool is?

Anyone on recently that can tell me how the aft pool is? The Aft pool is adult only and was enforced while we were sailed. The Pizza restaurant is next to the adult pool so there are kids around but not in the pool or hot tubs. We enjoyed the Conquest and are sailing on her in a few days for the 3rd time; however, we mainly chose this ship because of the ports. The ship a bit older but in very good shape. The slide is one of the older ones and doesn't compare to Water Works. Overall, a great ship and you will enjoy.

The Aft pool sounds nice to me - again better (for me) than the Serenity areas without a pool. I will be celebrating my 60th birthday (gasp) onboard & plan to have a great time!! NoDayButToday Posted July 1, 2015 #20 Share Posted July 1, 2015 I last sailed her when she was pretty new, but I loved the Conquest. It's taken me this long to book a 2nd cruise on her, but I am finally getting to go again Feb 2016 (and this is the first time I have returned to a ship I have already been on). I'm excited no matter what, I know she's a little bit older than the first time around, but that doesn't mean it won't be a good cruise. The lack of serenity isn't that big of a deal for me, personally. They usually do a good job of keeping kids out of the adult areas, so all we are really missing is the serenity furniture-which I didn't particularly love anyway. The sort of vinyl padding feels weird to me, especially when you get out of the pool. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
NCTribeFan Posted July 1, 2015 #21 Share Posted July 1, 2015 See, I love the "theme" of this ship. I'm not much an art person, but I do like a lot of Impressionist art . They even have one of my Pissarro paintings in the atrium elevator art (the only artwork I have in my house are prints of Pissarro's work I bought in Paris). I do wish they'd spell the name correctly in the FunTimes. I mean, come on! You have a room on the ship named after Pissarro and the sign on the ship is spelled correctly. I also did a thorough review of the 11/16/13 repositioning sailing. I'm not a "pool" person, so the lack of a Serenity deck is something I missed. BUT, unless you're all the way forward on the Serenity deck, you get all the Lido noise pollution anyway, which makes it not very Serene after all. For reading and relaxing in the sun, I sit on Deck 10 outside between the aft and mid-ship areas. For out-of-the-sun, I go to Deck 3. It tends to be very quiet out there (unless they're working, which they often are). Problem is they have very few loungers available.
tlw440 Posted July 1, 2015 #22 Share Posted July 1, 2015 We have sailed the Conquest twice, we sailed Nov 2013 and May of this year, great ship but starting to show it's age. The crew was great. Fantastic ports of call we did the eastern.
modernscarlett Posted July 1, 2015 #23 Share Posted July 1, 2015 We were on the Conquest 5/31-6/8, and it was a great cruise! I thought the adult pool was plenty sufficient, and we always were able to find a place there. The ship is a good size, and the crew was outstanding. I would sail on her again tomorrow if i could. sc4125 Posted July 2, 2015 #24 Share Posted July 2, 2015 10 more days!!! I'm glad to hear that you were able to find chairs at the aft pool. I'm excited to sail on a ship I've never been on & I'm pretty easy to please, so I know I'll have a great time.
