Rare shof515 Posted July 1, 2015 #3 Share Posted July 1, 2015 i like mid ship deck 4 due it being close to the gangway when it docks in port :D

MICHLEV1974 Posted July 2, 2015 #5 Share Posted July 2, 2015 I just came off the Gem, had outside room on Deck 5 mid ship. there's some service rooms right next to 5076...stay clear of that if you are a light sleeper...they are in/out all the time. We are heavy sleepers so it didn't bother us at all.
buckirj1 Posted July 2, 2015 #6 Share Posted July 2, 2015 There are a few cabins that don't have beds for a 3rd or 4th passenger. It makes the cabin seem a little larger, provided you don't have a 3rd or 4th passenger.
spidybabe Posted July 3, 2015 #7 Share Posted July 3, 2015 We enjoyed 5529... nothing special but nice cabin, close to stairs/elevator. One flight up to the casino( had their drink card, so very convenient when we wanted a drink). But 5th floor is a nice floor---same on the BA Safe sailing
BritChickBN1 Posted July 3, 2015 #8 Share Posted July 3, 2015 Mid ship deck 5. Look for the sideways cabins.
NYcruzzer Posted July 3, 2015 #9 Share Posted July 3, 2015 Mid ship deck 5. Look for the sideways cabins. Another vote for the sideways cabins. Layout makes the cabin appear larger.
coyote144 Posted July 9, 2015 #10 Share Posted July 9, 2015 pardon my ignorance, what is a sideways int. cabin? Different layout, I surmise, but how so? do they have a photo of it somewhere? Thanks Wendy
Presbycruiser Posted July 10, 2015 #11 Share Posted July 10, 2015 Just caught this thread and it's just what I needed to see, as I am cruising on the Gem November 23-December 3 and have an inside cabin. I passed on the info to my travel agent and she sent in a request ... no guarantee it will succeed but it can't hurt to ask. Thank you!
zqvol Posted July 10, 2015 #12 Share Posted July 10, 2015 I think the ones mid ship on deck 11 are the best.
logan25 Posted July 11, 2015 #13 Share Posted July 11, 2015 I chose Deck 11 towards the aft. One deck down from the buffet and pool. Super convenient!
barb-ottawa Posted August 2, 2015 #14 Share Posted August 2, 2015 Definitely a sideways cabin. We have sailed on the Gem three times in 9623. It's midship and in a perfect location. Very quiet. Sideways cabins have a different layout with a MUCH bigger bathroom.
coyote144 Posted August 4, 2015 #15 Share Posted August 4, 2015 Barb_Ottawa, you don't happen to have any photos of that sideways cabin, do you? NCL doesn't have them available anywhere (we asked a NCL rep). thanks.
khaide612 Posted August 4, 2015 #16 Share Posted August 4, 2015 (edited) There is a video of NCL Pearl cabin 9627 if you search video sites. Should be about same layout - maybe opposite. Edited August 4, 2015 by khaide612
Bonobochick Posted August 4, 2015 #17 Share Posted August 4, 2015 I've stayed on 8 fwd on this ship and it was nice enough. Mostly quiet with the exception of the occasional running child.
Presbycruiser Posted August 4, 2015 #18 Share Posted August 4, 2015 (edited) I ended up on deck 9 forward (Gem). Apparently I am only next to one other cabin (another inside one) and there is some empty space next to me. I was concerned when someone suggested I was next to the linen closet, but my travel agent called the line and they assured her it was empty space. Hope that's true! bob brown Posted August 5, 2015 #20 Share Posted August 5, 2015 We stayed in 4604 a couple of times...great location for a smooth ride (right next to medical center), and convenient to midship elevator.... You do need to be qualified to book it, as it is an 'accessible' cabin...
missjanet Posted August 5, 2015 #21 Share Posted August 5, 2015 Midship deck 9 was great. I'm happy to hear that midship deck 9 is good - last week we booked the Gem for 10/3-10/10 & got the only available inside cabin that wasn't a guarantee. It is 9053 & looks to be pretty much in the middle of deck 9. Thanks for the intel.

fstuff1 Posted August 5, 2015 #23 Share Posted August 5, 2015 Any recommendations for an inside cabin on the GEM would be appreciated. deck 9 somewhere between the mid and aft stairs. deck 9 is midway between the casino and food. inbetween the mid and aft stairs gives you shortest path options depending where you want to go. - if food, take aft stairs. - if casino, take mid stairs
