krillsister Posted July 10, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 10, 2015 Just returned from a 10 day Baltic cruise. Klaipeda was one of our stops. We decided to do a private tour of the Curonian Spit. We used Cruise klaipedia. Our tour was reasonably priced. There were 8 of us in a large van/bus and we paid 49E each. Our guide, Victoria, was extremely knowledgeable. The Curonian Spit is very beautiful and a good way to spend your time when in Klaipeda.
lj77346 Posted July 11, 2015 #2 Share Posted July 11, 2015 If you want a low cost way to see the Curonian Spit and don't feel like traveling far on a bus, you can take the local ferry boat from Klaipeda. The cost is 0.80 Euros round trip and the ride takes about 5 minutes. If you walk to the right from the ferry dock on the Curonian Spit you can see some old fishing boats and a recreated fisherman's homestead. Then you can follow one of the paths through the woods and you'll come out to the beach on the Baltic Sea. Although the dunes are not as high here as they are further down the spit, they still are scenic.
