JohnLocke2012 Posted July 27, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 27, 2015 Has anyone heard or successfully upgraded their room the day of embarkation? Booked a 5 day eatern Caribbean Conquest cruise for next month and was assigned cabin 1204. I knew I was getting an inside, and I gues I should have expected the worse. Does Carnival offer upgrades the day of the cruise if a better room is available? How much per person do yoi guys think itd be to go from an inside to balcony for a 5 nighter if one is available? JohnLocke2012 Posted July 27, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted July 27, 2015 Oh I know that most ships sail completely full these days, but Im hoping the timing (end of summer), we might luck out. Of at the time of booking a balcony was lets say $300 more per person, will it cost thay much the day of departure?
mzlinda Posted July 27, 2015 #5 Share Posted July 27, 2015 If I were you, I'd call now to see if you can buy an upgrade. It can't hurt to ask. Honestly I'd probably call a couple of times a week if the first price is too high.
love my grandkids Posted July 27, 2015 #6 Share Posted July 27, 2015 You can hope but more likely to buy an upgrade before you get to the pier. Keep checking the website

babs125 Posted July 27, 2015 #8 Share Posted July 27, 2015 I've actually been called on the way to the ship and offered an upgrade by Carnival! I took it--inside to a balcony at no charge. :)
Amatuer_Travel_Agent Posted July 27, 2015 #9 Share Posted July 27, 2015 Does it matter that I used an online TA and not direct through CCL? Yes it does carnival can't work through you if you have a ta

Keep checking the carnival website and if you see something you like call the online TA to upgrade you.
klfrodo Posted July 27, 2015 #11 Share Posted July 27, 2015 Does it matter that I used an online TA and not direct through CCL? Just like a Sports Agent or a labor Union, Carnival is contractually obligated to speak only with your travel agent. Your chances of getting an upgrade at the pier is slim to none with none in the lead by 20 lengths.
LSUcajunmom Posted July 27, 2015 #12 Share Posted July 27, 2015 Back when I was a novice about booking, I used a TA and called her about upgrading. She would get me upgrades based on lower price of my current category. Little did I know, that I could have been getting OBC all along. I would be diligent about checking for price reductions and call your TA. If they know you are checking, they may work a little harder to get you what you want. I see you are way up in the bow of the ship. We always book Riviera inside BUT midship as it's the most stable area for someone who might have motion problems. There's nothing wrong with being on Riviera and hope that being up so far will not be a problem.

An online TA is not going to be checking for you. For that need to have a good TA you have a relationship with and expects future business.
