Kcjarvis Posted July 31, 2015 Author #51 Share Posted July 31, 2015 After some quick paper work, we jumped into the Hertz shuttle van for the 3 min ride to the Hertz building to pick up the rental car. 20 min ride to Mullet Bay - Our favorite St Martin beach - They have the best ribs!!!!!! Sorry no food porn, to busy eating...
maggie416 Posted July 31, 2015 #52 Share Posted July 31, 2015 After breakfast, we jumped into a $21 cab to Horseshoe - about a 20 min ride The line for chairs was long, but moved quickly. In Bermuda, you have to carry your own chairs and umbrellas - $11 plus $5 deposit EACH!!!!!!! $48 and I have to lug my own chairs ???? The beach is beautiful, but it wouldn't make my Top 5 Beaches of the Caribbean list - Also the sand isn't pink. It has microscopic pink flakes. Sorry. I am glad to hear someone else feels the same way about this beach as my husband & I do. Yes, beautiful but we weren't really wowed, guess after hearing so many raves about it, our expectations were too high. But again, most enjoyable! Kcjarvis Posted July 31, 2015 Author #53 Share Posted July 31, 2015 Sadly, someone on our cruise suffered a bad accident at Maho Beach New article: http://www.thedailyherald.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=57132:flying-hat-lands-cruiser-in-hospital&catid=1:islands-news&Itemid=54 At about 4:30 pm, we headed over to the Grand Case Lolo's for drinks and snacks (20 mins) - Talk of the Town is our favorite Lolo Fish cakes, Johnny cakes and Guavaberry daiquiri's Then at 6pm, we headed back to the Port. The rental return is right at the Port. Drop the keys in the drop box. Total cost $62 and $9 gas. A beautiful evening sail away - another great day in St Martin

Smh..
sarahc78 Posted July 31, 2015 #56 Share Posted July 31, 2015 After a few hours at the beach, we lugged our chairs back to get our deposit, then we made our way to the taxi stand. It was a madhouse!!!! Since Bermuda is a premier location, I guess we expected better transportation infrastructure. Taxi van to the left, shuttle to the top of the hill for the public bus, and the direct shuttle to the ship on the right. People were not happy. After about 20 mins, we jumped into the $7 pp van for the 20 min ride back to Lady Liberty. EEEEEKKK!!!:eek: I've never seen Horseshoe Bay like that before! Were there not enough buses/Taxis? Kcjarvis Posted July 31, 2015 Author #58 Share Posted July 31, 2015 Woke up coming along side in Old San Juan Hey - where did this sign on our balcony come from??? We jumped into a $20 taxi down to Isla Verde Beach and arranged for Donny the taxi driver to pick us up at 11:30 am for a 12:30 pm all aboard. Hey Bermuda - Check this out These beaches sure are crowded at 8:15 am
roe2ship Posted July 31, 2015 #59 Share Posted July 31, 2015 About what time did you end up leaving Horseshoe Bay? We never really had too much trouble there. I think this new shuttle that takes you directly back to the pier is something new...I wonder if that is causing some issues there now.
Kcjarvis Posted July 31, 2015 Author #60 Share Posted July 31, 2015 As we exited the taxi we were handed a menu from the restaurant across the street from the beach, they were open and serving breakfast and lunch When in Rome.... It's mofongo time!!!!! Since I'm not a coffee drinker, I decided to have a healthy morning drink - mango daiquiri. Little did I know they were using Bacardi 151!!!!! YUMMY!!!!! 11:30 am back to the ship I hear we left 3 people in Puerto Rico... Sail away time

2005pony Posted July 31, 2015 #62 Share Posted July 31, 2015 I had no issues parking at all. Not sure what you are speaking of. We dropped off passengers and luggage. I drove to the lot, paid and parked. Back to the terminal in less than 5 minutes. Thanks for the info! As I said, I had seen conflicting reports posted on various sites. Was the rate $19/day as I've seen in some posts?

Rare BecciBoo Posted July 31, 2015 #65 Share Posted July 31, 2015 WOW cannot believe the crowds at Mullet Bay. Our fave too, but in all the times we've been there, couldn't have been more than a handful of people there. Looks like somebody purchased the venue and set up shop for loungers/umbs. Another beach ruint....LOL;)
cyntil8ing Posted July 31, 2015 #66 Share Posted July 31, 2015 (edited) About what time did you end up leaving Horseshoe Bay? We never really had too much trouble there. I think this new shuttle that takes you directly back to the pier is something new...I wonder if that is causing some issues there now. Not the OP, but the shuttle, essentially a shared taxi, was introduced last year. When we were there in August, it ran smoothly. In fact, it improved the experience of the year before, where taxis weren't coming in fast enough. I think part of the issue was it was a single port day, rather than the overnights, so everyone was pretty much on the same schedule, rather than spread out over hours. We've never just gone to Horseshoe Bay. We've always started about a half mile or so up at Warwick Long Bay and "beach hopped" our way back to Horseshoe at the end of the day. It's a huge difference in crowds and we had multiple beaches to ourselves. We end up at Horseshoe for the food, restroom facilities and transportation, but we don't spend any time there. Where are the rental chairs and umbrellas located exactly at this beach in Puerto Rico? Although my husband and children are quite tan I am quite fair so I would need an umbrella. Also, were there any waves? Thanks

fdthird Posted July 31, 2015 #69 Share Posted July 31, 2015 To the OP...great review and great pictures. Looking forward to the rest of your trip. To other posters...how about just replying to a post and not copying one with 5 or 6 pictures in it. Makes it very long for those of us viewing on portable devices. Kcjarvis Posted August 1, 2015 Author #74 Share Posted August 1, 2015 Good morning Labadee!!!! I love the aquatic welcome parade Took the golf cart over to Barefoot Beach to over the water cabana #4. We requested #5 and will tell you the story in the summary.
Kcjarvis Posted August 1, 2015 Author #75 Share Posted August 1, 2015 The cabana has a fan, an outlet and cooler with 4 bottles of water. The enhanced buffet was fine, no steak though and they ran out of labadozies at 2:15 pm. A good beach day, but for some reason The Capt departed Labadee and set course for the 1202 nautical mile run back to Bayonne.
