BlackJack2 Posted July 29, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 29, 2015 We will be sailing on the Caribbean Princess and would like information on cabins. We are looking at the balcony cabins on the Caribe 10 Deck, Aft ship. Are the balconies on these cabins bigger than other balcony cabin categories? Are the mini-suites that much bigger than the balcony cabins? And are the balconies on the Dolphin 9 Deck, Aft ship, a good size? Any information on cabins would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!! shredie Posted July 29, 2015 #4 Share Posted July 29, 2015 Caribe deck balconies are bigger, but the rooms are the same size as other balcony rooms.
IECalCruiser Posted July 29, 2015 #5 Share Posted July 29, 2015 (edited) The mini-suites have an additional sitting area of approximately 9'x9'. In that area is a sofa, coffee table, chair and a second TV. The balcony size on Baja, Aloha, Riviera and Lido decks is 5'x9', the balcony size on Caribe deck is 9'x9' and the mini-suite balcony size on Dolphin and Emerald deck is 7'x9'. vplsh Posted July 29, 2015 #7 Share Posted July 29, 2015 On one of our CB cruises we had booked a balcony on Caribe deck for the larger balcony. We were upgraded to a mini suite on Dolphin and I, foolishly, wasn't really happy. That is, until we entered the cabin and saw how much larger it was! Balcony information from other posters mainly refers to port and starboard facing cabins. Cabins that look over the stern of the ship have various size and configured balconies. Check out the deck plans. Mini Suites are mostly located on deck 9. The balcony is approx. 9'x6' and uncovered. There are 12 mini suites all the way aft port and starboard. These minis have the same interiors but have balconies that are covered.
Rare geoherb Posted July 29, 2015 #9 Share Posted July 29, 2015 All balcony cabins are the same size and all mini-suite cabins are the same size. Not all balcony cabins are the same size. In looking at the deck plans you'll see the size as quoted as being "approximately 231 to 271 sq. ft. including balcony" for most balcony cabins. Premium balcony cabins are 240 to 298 sq. ft. Our accessible balcony cabin was 333 sq. ft. Click on "Click to view details" on the deck plans on the Princess site to see specific dimensions for a specific cabin. The only potential difference might be the "true aft" category B4 balcony cabins such as the 16 on Emerald, Dolphin, Caribe and Baja decks on the Caribbean Princess for example. JF - retired RRT Posted July 29, 2015 #12 Share Posted July 29, 2015 Dolphin deck has completely uncovered balconies. If you are interest in the mini that is at the "end of the row"...check out the following: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1959727
Colo Cruiser Posted July 29, 2015 #13 Share Posted July 29, 2015 (edited) No, all Dolphin deck side of ship minis are completely uncovered. The minis located on Emerald deck are all covered. Edited July 29, 2015 by Colo Cruiser
Retiring cajun Posted July 29, 2015 #14 Share Posted July 29, 2015 Are there any decks with covered or half covered on CB? Mini suite?!
Colo Cruiser Posted July 29, 2015 #15 Share Posted July 29, 2015 No either fully covered or not covered. All Caribe deck regular balconies have the half covered balconies and they are a tad bigger then the mini balconies.

Colo Cruiser Posted July 29, 2015 #17 Share Posted July 29, 2015 The few aft area Emerald deck minis on either side of the ship. Think there are 6 on either side I think. They are popular and go fast. If you book one have your booking marked "NO UPGRADE", or you may end up upgraded to an uncovered mini on Dolphin deck.
Retiring cajun Posted July 29, 2015 #18 Share Posted July 29, 2015 Is the Emerald deck have rooms above and below?
Colo Cruiser Posted July 29, 2015 #19 Share Posted July 29, 2015 (edited) Cabins above only....... Club Fusion is below. Some say the furthest aft cabins (starboard side) can hear some slight bass once in awhile but we have never heard anything. The further you move forward with those cabins the less likely to hear noise. Edited July 29, 2015 by Colo Cruiser

We were in C706 (Caribe deck balcony this past March, and have been in D708 (Dolphin deck minisuite) on a previous cruise on the Caribbean Princess. The Caribe deck balcony is half covered and is bigger than the Dolphin deck balcony which is completely uncovered. Only you can decide if the lack of privacy on the balcony is worth having a couch and a bathtub. Our only complaint with the aft location was that we couldn't get a wifi signal in the cabin at all. Other than that, the location was great.

Seacreature101 Posted July 30, 2015 #23 Share Posted July 30, 2015 You may wish to keep in mind that the port side on Emerald is right over the stage area if there is a band or show in there. We have stayed in a few Emerald Deck minis and love the covered and extended balcony on the ones we had as well as the straight shot look down at the water with no obstruction. Have not had any sound issues. Also, smoking areas can vary by ship and on the Caribbean, it is supposed to be the starboard side so that may be another factor to consider. Even if you are unable to get the extended balcony cabins at the end, the straight shot and covered is worth every bit to us. Hmmm. That sort of sounded like I was ordering hashbrowns down here in the south!
OCruisers Posted July 30, 2015 #24 Share Posted July 30, 2015 We love the mini-suites on Dolphin Deck as close as possible to the mid-ship elevator lobby. So convenient! :) LuLu
Retiring cajun Posted July 31, 2015 #25 Share Posted July 31, 2015 What is the biggest disadvantage of an uncovered balcony? We want to keep our mini suite. on dolphin. is it because of rain? what exactly is above us? think I'll be looking out to sea!
