Freedom of the Seas men's area

Recommended Posts

Anyone know any specifics to Freedom of the Seas? How many seats in the sauna / steam room? A lot of people use them? times? Towel required?

Cruising at the end of the month and want to know what to expect.

All Freedom-class ships have the same set up.

Large locker room. But you have to go upstairs to the next level up to the appointment desk for the spa and salon to get a key for the locker.

The last time I was on Freedom, a few months ago, the towel situation wasn't very good. Best to lock one towel in your locker to make certain you have one when you want to shower and dry off.

next to the locker area are some showers and the drinking fountain.

The locker area has a bathroom next to it, by the sink.

off to the left are more showers, a sink area, and the dry sauna room and the wet steam room.

Both of these are large areas, so as to how many they could hold, it would be at the least that they would hold ten or more. I have never seen the dry sauna area full, but have seen the steam room with 8 to 10 in it.

The dry sauna has multi-leveled seating.

Only thing to point out as a caution for the wet steam room is that the steam

jets can be an issue. The room is long and narrow, with seating on both sides (one level), and room for one more at the far end of the 'U' shape. The jets deliver the steam out of each of the long sides near the middle of the side.

I have been in there when someone sat right over the jet and was burned on his shins/ankles when the steam spurted out one time. Best to sit near the door, or at the far/back end to be a ways away from that.

As it is separate, towels are the norm, but some men will wear bathing suits in the rooms.

If you like a cool water temp for your shower, the showers nearest to the sauna/steam rooms are usually cooler than the ones by the lockers. The same on Liberty and Indy.
