shredie Posted August 9, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 9, 2015 I stay on the ship and enjoy the peace and quiet and uncrowded buffet. [emoji4]
bcnvcanada Posted August 9, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 9, 2015 Trip to the two wineries (Princess) is good, wine tasting and even a bottle of wine.
Bemidji Ty Posted August 10, 2015 #4 Share Posted August 10, 2015 I agree with the winery recommendation. We did it a year or so ago. It was fun, interesting and had good wine and food. Smooth Sailin'

caribill Posted August 10, 2015 #8 Share Posted August 10, 2015 Can you bring the bottle of wine back to the ship? Any corkage for it? Past posts on other threads have indicated there is no problem bringing the bottle back on to the ship. In most cases, the cruise is about to end. There would be a corkage fee if the bottle is brought to the dining room.
gr1634 Posted August 10, 2015 Author #9 Share Posted August 10, 2015 Thank each of you for your responses. Looks like the wine trip may be the answer. A couple more quick questions: 1) Can't remember - is there a shopping area at the dock? 2) For anyone who has sailed from the new berth in San Fran - do you remember how far it is from Fisherman's Wharf? Thanks Again Gr

A couple more quick questions: 1) Can't remember - is there a shopping area at the dock? very small & cheesy 2) For anyone who has sailed from the new berth in San Fran - do you remember how far it is from Fisherman's Wharf? not very far from the "old dock", so should be a shortish walk Thanks Again Gr see above

Is there a cab or bus for those with limited mobile? I still cruise for Warm Chocolate Melting Cake (with 2 sugar-free vanilla ice-creams)

mousey Posted August 21, 2015 #15 Share Posted August 21, 2015 We took a cab to the Estero Beach Resort which is about a 25 min. ride from the port. For $10 a piece we were able to stay as long as we liked and use all of their facilities. We had a ball. It's right on the ocean and there are plenty of lounges to sun on. They have a swim up bar in the pool and a big Jacuzzi. We had such a great time that it for sure on our list on one of our next cruises there. We would never just stay on the ship as there is lots to do in Ensenada that is fun and interesting. JMHO.

We weren't expecting much when we got to Ensenada, from what we read here on the boards. We were pleasantly surprised! Had a great couple of hours just walking around and having lunch. Our next trip to Mexico stops in San Diego. We live there so we are tempted to stay on ship. We will probably just walk down to Seaport Village to people watch. I still cruise for Warm Chocolate Melting Cake (with 2 sugar-free vanilla ice-creams) At port there is a shuttle. IIRC it's $3 RT. Friend uses a wheelchair. The shuttle people called a taxi in for her. She is able to transfer and her wheelchair folds. Taxi from town to port is $4. SelectSys Posted August 23, 2015 #20 Share Posted August 23, 2015 Now that the toll road is open again, golf at Baja Mar is a nice option for those that like golf. The course is probably 20-30 minutes maximum from the port. I have never seen it crowded, it plays well, has spectacular views and is not very expensive. The bar/restaurant at Baja Mar isn't great, but is serviceable as well. Just thought I would through this out because golf in the Ensenada area is rarely mentioned.
