Free Cruise Mohegan Sun

I just received an offer to come in and pick up a free cruise certificate at Mohegan Sun casino on one day in September. I do play at Mohegan fairly regularly but never received an offer of a cruise before and trying to find out more information to see if it is worth it to go pick up or not.

It states "Select a 3, 4 or 5 night cruise to the Bahamas, Bermuda and the Caribbean on Royal Caribbean or Celebrity Cruises. Includes inside cabin accommodations."

I realize I would still have to pay port fee and taxes. My questions for anyone who has gotten this before are is this for one person in single occupancy? Would I have to then pay cruise fare for my husband? Also would any of the 3, 4 or 5 night cruises to Bermuda that are offered be leaving from northeast ports (where I could drive to the port)?

Any information would be helpful so I know whether I want to drive 2 hours to Mohegan to pick this up. Thank you!

I received this offer as well. I think if Bermuda is included they go out of NY or NJ. This is my first cruise offer from Mohegan, but I have gotten them from Foxwoods before, with Norwegian Cruise line. I usually have to pay the taxes and port charges and more if you want to upgrade to balcony.

They are wonderful! Going again Sept 6 to Bermuda, and back just in time to pick up next certificate!

I am actually going on a "free cruise" from Mohegan Sun to Bermuda leaving this Saturday from Cape Liberty, New Jersey.

You do have to pay for any upgrades, port fees and taxes as well as gratuities (for two people) but other than that you are good to go. It's usually a trip for 2 so your husband should be covered.

You can take advantage of port transportation by working with this bus company if something is available in your area

They work with Mohegan Sun travel agents (their travel folks actually place the booking for you) and Royal Caribbean (scroll down to the bottom of the link and click on Royal Caribbean). Mohegan Sun travel agents are great to work with and will make all the arrangements for you

Hope this helped answer some of your questions. Have a wonderful time and I hope lady luck shines upon you!

I got the same offer and made plans to pick it up but it's the day after I return from Vegas, so I am sort of on the fence about it. We tried our first Celebrity cruise in January and really enjoyed it so this seems like a good idea.

I would have to upgrade to a balcony though, and I wondered if anyone has an idea what I could expect for an upgrade fee? This would be on a 5 nighter.

I was also wondering what other perks it mights include, as my previous cruises booked through NCL's Casino at Sea and one from Foxwoods included free drinks while playing and additional small perks.

Oh, last question - do they waive the second person fees if you choose to go solo?

Thanks in advance for any comments :)

Hi – In no way do I consider myself and expert on how these things work (I am a beginner myself) but from what I understand (I have already done this for a few cruises) if you upgrade to a higher room they charge you whatever the difference is between the two rooms.

With that being said, my free Mohegan Sun cruise was for a balcony room so - if you are also one of the lucky folks that Mohegan Sun awards this particular voucher to – you won’t need to pay for an upgrade!

Also, my cruise voucher included drinks while playing in the casino (use the casino bar). It would include any drink up to the price of $10 otherwise you pay the difference between those drinks if you decide to go with the more expensive one.

I wish I could answer the fee waive question but I cruised with my husband so didn’t need that information.

I hope some of this helps to point you in the right direction for answers and maybe someone else with more cruise voucher experience will comment to help clarify any areas that you may still have some doubt on.

Good luck and happy sailing!

Hi all...I too received this voucher from Mohegan Sun and called their travel agency today to ask if they could give me some idea about sail dates and departure port. I will need to take a day off work (or at least a half day) in order to pick it up and I don't want to do that if the cruises aren't from NYC or New Jersey and/or if the sailings are only during dates when schools are in session. The rep at the agency stated she has no information at this time.

Does anyone here have any secret knowledge? I sailed through Mohegan to Bermuda last summer, but that was a week long cruise and this voucher states it's only for three, four, or five day cruises.

Thanks!

WHAT A JOKE!

The certificate I received listed several cruise options. One was to Bermuda leaving out of Bayonne NJ. That was great! I live in NY and do not want to incur additional expenses like airfare.

I called to get the information and dates available for cruising. I was told that ship is no longer sailing out of that port. BUT they have a brand new luxury ship that is! I asked how could they give a comp with such an error. I was told that the cruise line changed the cruise and MOHEGAN SUN KNEW ABOUT IT AND CHOSE TO STILL ISSUE THAT CERTIFICATE.

Needless to say I was furious.

I called one of the contacts I knew about at the casino. Mr. Eric Tonucci. Supposed to be a big wig. I spoke with a woman in his office explaining the situation. She said she didn't know anything about it but would get back to me. She did, I was told the Director of the Travel Department would call. Donna called back. She contradicted the first information I was given. According to her, it was the cruise line that pulled the ship without their knowledge. She then proceeded to tell me that they were told. And the cruise line said that anyone that wanted to sail out of Bayonne would be given a $350 credit toward the cruise on the new ship. Then she said the casino wasn't satisfied with that and they renegotiated and now anyone wishing to sail on the new ship would be given a $750 credit. I'm still annoyed but I call back to get the cost of the cruise. Of course it depends on when you want to cruise. I was told the cruise would cost $1194.66. And I was also told that price wasn't guaranteed. Now I was really angry. I sent an e-mail to Mr. Tonucci on November 6th. I received no reply so I sent another. Today Mr Tonucci called. He said, I understand you have some problem with the cruise certificate. Yes I did. Did you read my e-mail? Anyway, I told him that the casino misrepresented the gift to their players. He insisted the problem was with the booking agent and the cruise line. Isn't the booking agent theirs? He said there was nothing he could do. I told him there most certainly was, he could honor his certificate and give the players the cruise on the ship sailing out of the port they offered for exactly what the certificate said... port charges, taxes, and fees. Again he stated there was nothing he could do. They can do something, they are choosing not to. Shame on them. I don't know what anyone else is going to do but I AM TAKING MY GAMING ACTION ELSEWHERE! There are plenty of casinos that will be happy to have me as a player.

Mohegan Sun's Travel Department is not very swift.

I also questioned them, just yesterday, on another matter, and they were clueless.

I realize that this is an old post; however, I went to Bermuda as well on a free cruise from Mohegan Sun. What month do they do this? Do you remember? I want to go again too!!!!! So worth it.
