2possums Posted August 28, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 28, 2015 Hi cruise critics Been madly surfing this site and love it, lots of great info. We are on an upcoming Explorer of the Seas cruise and 'purchased' a guarantee balcony in the recent sale - and have been allocated Cabin 9542. Our friends are aft on level 6 - a long way away?! Is it worth cancelling and then re-booking (and paying a lot more) to be near them or should we just stick with 9542? Is a forward cabin ok? Thanks for any advice, can't wait for our cruise but really struggling with this!!! Thank you.
maureencruiser Posted August 28, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 28, 2015 Now that you've been assigned, if you are from the USA, you can call and they will change you to any available cabin in the same category you've been assigned. Study the deck plans and see what is available. Good luck!
2possums Posted August 28, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted August 28, 2015 Hi Maureencruiser Thanks for your quick reply - I should have said - I'm in Oz and have called RCI twice to see if they would change me - no luck :( Cheers
tomatosauce Posted August 28, 2015 #4 Share Posted August 28, 2015 Living in Australia and having been assigned 9544 and 9542 for my balcony guarantee on the Explorer in late 2016 and early 2017 respectively it looks like that is a room that their algorithms like to assign to guarantees. I am happy with the rooms. Being near stairs makes things so much easier to get around and on deck 9 it is easy to go up to deck 11 to go to the Windjammer and transit aft. I think that you will think that you got the better of the deal than a deck 6 room.
2possums Posted August 28, 2015 Author #5 Share Posted August 28, 2015 Thanks Tomatosauce - good to know that the location is good - and think you might be onto something re the allocations! Just wondering if it is an issue that we are so far apart from our travelling companions...(we all have kids who will want to be in and out of each others cabins)... Merion_Mom Posted August 28, 2015 #6 Share Posted August 28, 2015 That's a nice location. Right by the forward elevator lobby, each deck has a nice sitting area and "overlook" into the Royal Promenade. Bon Voyage!
tomatosauce Posted August 28, 2015 #7 Share Posted August 28, 2015 The trick with rooms far apart and kids is to figure out in the first day or so a couple of routes between the locations.
