Clarea Posted September 17, 2015 #5 Share Posted September 17, 2015 11 Night Southern Caribbean, Serenade in March I would think that if you do self-assist disembarkation, and there are no delays with customs or learing the ship, you should be at the airport no later than 90 minutes after the ship arrives. Here is what the cruise line suggests: http://www.royalcaribbean.com/customersupport/faq/details.do?pagename=frequently_asked_questions&pnav=5&pnav=2&faqType=faq&faqSubjectId=324&faqSubjectName=Air+Travel&faqId=2724
Coralc Posted September 17, 2015 #6 Share Posted September 17, 2015 11 Night Southern Caribbean, Serenade in March We are sailing 11 nights in February. Our flight is at 11 AM....because the other choices were 8:25 AM or 3:40PM. Our return is on a Friday, so we will probably self disembark, and I don't anticipate problems. :)

George C Posted September 17, 2015 #9 Share Posted September 17, 2015 I would not do anything before 11:30, but one time we had noon flight and got there about 9am and airline put us on a 09:20 flight
Boo's Mom Posted September 17, 2015 #10 Share Posted September 17, 2015 I would recommend no earlier than 1130. It is very likely that you will arrive very early to the airport, but it is always best to give yourself some wiggle room. When a custom issue arises, (and everyone is delayed disembarking) you will have plenty of time to make your flight. There are numerous issues that can arise that will cause you to be delayed. Nothing worse than having a majorly stressed disembarkation day. Enjoy your vacation! :)
Clarea Posted September 17, 2015 #11 Share Posted September 17, 2015 On our Oasis departure last week, we were told there was some holdup with the Customs people. We had Suite luggage tags (earlier than the numbered tags) and the lineup to get off the ship extended into the dining room. We made it to the airport a little before 10:45am for an 11:30am flight. If there had not been a priority Customs line for suites, we would have missed the flight.

OHCruisin Posted September 17, 2015 #13 Share Posted September 17, 2015 I just did an 11:10 JetBlue this past Saturday. Made it to the airport by 8:30 and I didn't self disembark. Full disclosure, there were only two ships in Port Everglades. And I was escorted off by the concierge. Still, if you're coming in on a Friday, you shouldn't run into 8 other ships needing clearance. Bob said there was a customs holdup on the Oasis last week and didn't get to the airport until 10:45am. How did you get to the airport at 8:45am? What is your secret? Bill

Khsh08 Posted September 17, 2015 #18 Share Posted September 17, 2015 When we were booking our flight for Jet Blue from Fort Lauderdale to NY after the Oasis for our upcoming cruise, we were told from RC to not book anything before 11am. We now have an afternoon flight around 1pm and I'm sure we will end up with lots of time between, but I would rather have a relaxed/lazy/borring time than a stressful one. We are also flying out the morning before our cruise.
fish6 Posted September 17, 2015 #19 Share Posted September 17, 2015 (edited) 11 Night Southern Caribbean, Serenade in March We are on the same cruise as you and booked JetBlue @ 1135 from FLL to BUF. We will do self assist as we always do so I'm sure we will be fine. How early is your flight? Edited September 17, 2015 by fish6
steveru621 Posted September 17, 2015 #20 Share Posted September 17, 2015 I'm also interested in Serenade experiences, since she is smaller and I have no idea what pier she will dock at for our 12/4/2015 10 day. I booked a 10:45AM flight based on my past good experiences. Oh boy.

Darkwolfe Posted September 17, 2015 #22 Share Posted September 17, 2015 10:45am for a FLL departure is completely doable. As has been said, just self-debark and you're good. steveru621- As an educated guess, Serenade could be berthed at Terminals, 4, 21, 22, 23, or 24. Those are the most common locations for Royal ships. You might go through Terminal 18, but I haven't seen anything but Freedom and Oasis ships there in quite a while. YMMV of course. :) Here's a handy map of the port. Enjoy!

Of course they may just cut the number of agents!

Of course they may just cut the number of agents! You shouldn't have any problems. Especially if you have a non-weekend begin and end to your cruise. You should have that on a 10 nighter. I've gone out of FLL on Vision twice for 10 and 11 night trips. Both sailed on Mondays and back on Thursday or Friday. Made it to the airport by 8:30am both times. RIP27 Posted September 18, 2015 Author #25 Share Posted September 18, 2015 Fish 6 no flames please, I did a 10:05 and when I booked it, I had all the rationale sorted out in my head, now, not so sure. But if it doesn't work out we get an extra day of vacation. Where in Buffalo are you from? My son lives in Kenmore and is attending SUNY.
