Help me understand

I booked a BE category on the Crown Princess. It is on the Caribe deck. According to my TA my booking shows I am open to an upgrade. She told me that Princess does not notify the agency, they just upgrade. Does that mean they could put me in a higher balcony on a different deck? I really like the positive reviews I have received regarding the Caribe deck balconies. Thanks.

There are 2 types of upgrades, within category and meta upgrades to the next level cabin. Your TA can mark your reservation to either one. The within category upgrade they will move you to a room they consider to be a higher level even if you think the position is less desirable. These happen more often than the meta upgrades which would move you to a balcony from an ocean view for example.

Yes you can be moved.

If you like it have the TA call Princess and mark it "no upgrade" or as mentioned above meta only.

You have a few choices: have your booking marked "No Upgrade", have your booking marked "Meta Upgrade", or just let it ride and see what happens. While there is no way to determine if, when, and what category cabin you might be upgraded to, we can assume that any upgrade would more likely be to a Balcony Cat. cabin B1, B2, B4, BA through BD. All of these cabins (with few exceptions) have identical interiors. All port and starboard balcony cat. cabins on deck 10 have 9'x9' balconies. Port and starboard balcony cabins on decks 11, 12, & 15 have 9'x5' balconies. The difference between balcony categories is location on the ship, and what Princess believes to be a better location. While it is always possible to be upgraded to a mini-suite it is more likely that would be an upsell offer.

Another option is do nothing now and monitor your cruise personalizer each day. If you see a change in cabin that you don't like notify your T.A. right away.

This should work well.

For our cruise in October 2016 we agreed to a cabin swap, with the condition that if they wanted to move us again it would have to be from our Premium Balcony only to a Mini Suite.

TA does make notifications if an upgrade is given.

If you have booked directly with Princess, they will notify you.

If you are using a TA, they will notify the TA who is supposed to notify you. Sometimes that chain or communication breaks down.

o Some TAs just never pass the notification on.

o Sometimes the notification to a TA gets over looked by the TA.

o Sometimes the TA does pass it on but it goes into the customer's spam file.

If you have an assigned cabin that you want to keep, have the TA have your booking marked "will not accept an upgrade." Otherwise, if you do get an upgrade, it could be to any area of the ship with a higher category than you are booked in.

I also frequently check my Cruise Personalizer for assignment and movement of assignment. Truth be told, I might stalk my Cruise Personalizer...

I confess... I also am an "over checker" of cruise personalizer . You never know when you might see something new.... For me, this planning, reading and dreaming is a lot of fun and one of the things I enjoy about my cruise.

Since it is True Confessions time...I also am a Personalizer Stalker.

I also compulsively check to see if there are any price changes. I have saved hundreds by doing this.

Me too TracieABD!

After being reassigned from F315 with Handicapped Bathroom to F311 with a Regular Bathroom, when the TA had MOST specifically, when she rang Princess to change my original booking due to them cancelling "For Operational Reasons" specifically reconfirmed with them I DID need the grab rails in the Bathroom. She was told by 1 of the Call Centre operators, that if a person who is wheelchair dependent wants to cruise in a Suite on my cruise, they will have priority, but it's unlikely. I've already had to change my plans once, and am NOT happy at the thought of having to miss the cruise, as there is no other Handicapped Suite on the Golden Princess. The TA says not to worry, I AM! She did say she has a good contact at Princess so calm down-not helping much.

Always a good practice and it's surprising how many folks don't bother to even look at the Personalizer until it's time to print boarding passes and tags.

I went in yesterday, to find Gift Services was now available-partly, no Robes and some prices still in USD$ but I located 4 new souvenirs with AUD$ prices, and 2, from 2 different people, have already been voted for. The 50th Anniversary Mug and the Ship-Specific Mum were earmarked for my cousins-he's had an unfortunate run of Fumble Fingers resulting in smashed mugs, so new ones will be much appreciated!

Was advised by my Chartered Accountant friend to take ALLthe Speciality Dining, Culinary Delights, Cocktail money, and 3/4 of the planned Souvenir Spending in On Board Credit with your budgeted Casino, taxis in Melbourne and airport to home, and 1/4 of your planned Souvenir Spend in Casino Credit which can be cashed out, the taxi money reserved in separate coin purses, and your On Board Account topped up with cash if necessary. She'll be surprised if my calculations are too inaccurate, but did warn me, "Unless you've got to spend a certain amount to qualify for a Discount voucher, I'd pre-order your Photography Credits and the chocolates for gifts to the TA and her staff. Talk to her about ordering your 50th Anniversary purchases now as well to be sure you'll get them next year as well.

Must go check my Cruise Personalizer, I haven't, as yet, looked at it today, been busy with other things.
