Rare itsanita Posted October 18, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 18, 2015 We have rented a car for our day in St Martin/St Maarten. Any suggestions of things to do / visit. A beach is a must, but we do not want to spend our day at a beach. Thanks
ChattTN Posted October 18, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 18, 2015 (edited) We have rented a car for our day in St Martin/St Maarten. Any suggestions of things to do / visit. A beach is a must, but we do not want to spend our day at a beach. Thanks - Check flight arrival times online and head straight to Moho beach from ship for a quick trip to watch a couple planes land before the cruise tours arrive - Drive to Orient Bay via Marigot and stop for a little shopping or lunch in Marigot - Finish afternoon at Orient Beach Edited October 18, 2015 by ChattTN
bosswench Posted October 18, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 18, 2015 We covered the whole circle of the island in one day! First stopped to watch the planes land at Maho Beach, it was a Sunday so we got to see the big 747 come in! Then to Marigot, walked around the town and ate pastries and coffee overlooking the yacht harbor. After that we drove to Grand Case, most of the fancy french restaurants were closed, so we had grilled lobster at a picnic table at one of the lolos. Lastly we went over to Orient Beach and spent a couple hours enjoying some sun and sand at Bikini Beach. We kept busy, but it was an easy wonderful day. We will need to 'google maps' before we leave home to find our way? Or is it easy to just follow the signs around the island, using a map when we get there? Or is it easy to just follow the signs around the island, using a map when we get there? The signs on the island are pretty clear, we were able to get around easily. But the rental car (from Hertz) included a GPS, so we had a backup. Jojo
tenmile Posted October 22, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 22, 2015 Hi. We will be in St. Maarten (our first visit) at the end of Jan. and six ships will be in port! Would you recommend renting a car with that many people on the island? Should we expect traffic to really slow us down? We had planned to rent a car to see the island, but now am not so sure. Any advice?

Any advice? What is your port time? Are the majority of the ships on the same time? Is there any places that are a must for your visit. If Maho isn't then that would make planning your day much easier as its one of the few places that timing is everything.:)
