cheffip Posted October 22, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 22, 2015 We are doing Hong Kong to Singapore in late Feb. to mid-March. Just wondering how calm the seas on that route are likely to be then. Our guarantee cabin assignment is good but on deck 8 and more forward than I would have ideally chosen so we are wondering what to expect in regards to waves/motion/rocking. Trend Posted October 22, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 22, 2015 Storms for that area are like our hurricane season June to Oct. We did Singapore to Bali and stayed in Hong Kong for Chinese New Year Outstanding time Weather and seas were great.

Thanks very much...that will be particularly reassuring to my wife who can be prone to seasickness.
no fuss travel Posted October 23, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 23, 2015 We did the opposite sailing from Singapore to Hong Kong this past February and it was smooth sailing all the way.

Rare Keith1010 Posted October 25, 2015 #7 Share Posted October 25, 2015 I've done this itinerary many times. In general seas were calm. The only caveat is when you are at sea you just never know but the odds are that the seas will be good. Keith
tring Posted October 25, 2015 #8 Share Posted October 25, 2015 We did the South China Sea in November a few years ago, (Hong Kong to Singapore and back), and somehow lived through two Typhoons. Our Cabin steward from Manila and the ship's Doctor said not to go there before Christmas, as the storms can happen that late now with the weather pattern changes. We have also had a tropical storm in the Caribbean in Early December. So it does look as though Feb/Mar are likely to be better on average. We are booked on a back to back for February 2017, (Hong Kong to Singapore, then on to Sri Lanka via Myanmar), so we are certainly crossing our fingers on that, especially as the ship we are travelling on is very small (15,000 GRT). For the second cruise we could only get a cabin nearer to the front than we normally book, so are wondering if we should ask to be waitlisted for something more mid ship - but the ship is prone to noise and vibration towards the back and even in some mid ship cabins. So we also have a big interest in this thread.
