rs12065 Posted November 6, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 6, 2015 We are considering a Mediterranean cruise on the Brilliance in September, 2016. I know that at Villefranche and Kotor the ship doesn't dock but uses tenders. My wife does not like tendering, and will only do so if the tender ride is a short distance (e.g. Grand Cayman). We are looking for advice as to how long the tender ride is at Villefranche and Kotor, and are the ships life boats used or arre they larger boats contracted by Royal Caribbean? Thanks in advance for any info.
Missus Makkem Posted November 6, 2015 #2 Share Posted November 6, 2015 Did Kotor in Sept and we were docked. Villafranche they use the local tenders plus some lifeboats and the ride is about 15 mins but can be bumpy.
critterchick Posted November 6, 2015 #3 Share Posted November 6, 2015 We tendered into Kotor off Serenade last year and it was a short ride, maybe 10 minutes. Very smooth, too - the tendering point is well inside the harbor, which is protected by surrounding hills.
123funcruiser Posted November 7, 2015 #4 Share Posted November 7, 2015 It´s rather hard to tell upfront as it depends on where the ship will be anchored, so it can vary from visit to visit. There are often more than one ship in port and some will get a spot closer to land than others. It will also determine if the ships Tenders are used or shore Tenders are available. I was in both ports this year and several times in Villefranche before and our Location varied. In Kotor we first had to drop anchor quite far out, as there was another ship at anchor Close to the port. When the other ship left we lifted anchor and relocated closer to land. Hailzmick Posted November 8, 2015 #5 Share Posted November 8, 2015 We tendered from Vision and Splendour for these ports and the rides were super short- not even 10 minutes. You just have to get your tender tickets early so you're not having to wait around.
Norwich Cruiser Posted November 8, 2015 #6 Share Posted November 8, 2015 Both ports very good. They have always been smooth took five minutes maximum and easy to get off when docking.
natkarma Posted November 10, 2015 #7 Share Posted November 10, 2015 We were on the vision in June and did tenders for both ports, I myself are not a fan of tenders but the trip was quick and easy. No more than 5 mins to each port. Kotor is amazing and the time on the tender goes so fast due to so much to look at.
