Northern Aurora Posted November 13, 2015 #26 Share Posted November 13, 2015 That would be a tiny bar/venue....but it is essentially wasted space. I can't see that space being converted...not worth the cost. After the conversation with the "stripe" my husband said essentially the same thing to me! The conversation regarding the whiskey bar started when I asked the "stripe," who we met on a prior cruise, about a sign on the door of Quasar (which was closed). That is when we were told that the Future Cruise Office was being re-located from Deck 5 to beside Quasar. That remodeling was completed few days before the end of the October 27th trans-Atlantic and there was a "grand re-opening" of the Future Cruise Office in its new location. After being told of the Future Cruise Office move I asked what would be installed in the Deck 5 now former Future Cruise Office space, and was told that the Destination Concierge was being moved into that location. Then the conversation moved onto other changes and work on the ship. The whiskey bar was mentioned as well was the dismantling of the production show sets. cpj Posted November 13, 2015 #27 Share Posted November 13, 2015 It would be nice if they could build a nice waterfront area, get rid of the stupid lawn. The new waterfront area on NCL was very nice, and do u see any new ships with lawns. One of Celebrity biggest mistakes was the lawn. I don't thing u will see on any ships in the future. Remember this is only my opinion and I sure there are people who enjoy it so don't flame me if you disagree. I will respect your opinion.
lovemylab Posted November 14, 2015 #28 Share Posted November 14, 2015 We love the itineraries offered by Equinox, (next year she is overnight in Ibiza, and visiting Valencia, etc) but the ship not offering what Reflection or Silhouette offers makes us hesitant to book, we love the lawn club grill, and the hideaway.... For me, food is always a winner, winner, chicken dinner!:D You cant eat those glass things. I am the opposite. We were on the Reflection last month and it was our first cruise on an S class ship that didn't have a glass show. We found ourselves missing it. Personally, I don't want every ship to offer the exact same amenities. Having a glass show at sea is unique. On our last Equinox cruise you had to be there 20 minutes early to get a seat, so there are certainly plenty of people who enjoy them.
Bob & Donna Posted November 15, 2015 #29 Share Posted November 15, 2015 I am also going on the TA cruise in April and yes I would like to see the glass show stay on-board at least until then. Traveling with my sister. We are both in our 70's and traveled last year on the Constellation TA. Loved the cruise and especially the entertainment. Food was only so, so though. Hope the food on the Equinox is better:):)
Happy Cruiser 6143 Posted November 15, 2015 #30 Share Posted November 15, 2015 I'm a big fan of the hot glass shows. I try to book S class ships that have them. Just off the Equinox TA; it was SRO at every show. I get that it's not revenue producing, but it is something which sets Celebrity apart from all the other many other cruise lines out there. We will be on Equinox in March for the first time and looking forward to experiencing the lawn. It seems like a unique concept...lounging on the grass with a drink looking out at the sea. Do people not use it? Is there some reason why you don't like it? I'm thinking maybe I have the wrong idea. I have no idea what to expect for the glass show but we do plan attending if it is still going on.
scifimonkey Posted November 15, 2015 #32 Share Posted November 15, 2015 Love whiskey but would prefer to drink it at any of the existing bars as my DW would not generally wish to join me in a whiskey only establishment which seems even more niche than the wine martini or cocktail venues. It would be better to repace the glass show with the proven success that is the lawn club grille. Favourite specialist restaurant on Silhouette! Jane2357 Posted November 15, 2015 #33 Share Posted November 15, 2015 Sigh .... is there anything else at all the Celebrity would like to take from us? Because this month has been tough in our book. Formal night died, Celebrity Suites are castrated with Sky's swopping in at a lower cost for same perks and now talk of the loss of Hot Glass shows? Jeez I need a glass of wine ---- oh wait ---- wine is out.

So try to go when it's awake. Really a stupid concept.
TeaBag Posted November 17, 2015 #35 Share Posted November 17, 2015 Just off Eclipse TA and we never went near the glass show. I guess some like it and some don't. We would prefer the LCG restaurant there.

Pickels Posted November 17, 2015 #37 Share Posted November 17, 2015 It has been eliminated on the sister ship, silhouette, I hope it's gone on the Equinox also. It was a waste!

I don't think Sillie ever had it, and know Reflection was not built with it from the beginning. Isn't it unique to Solstice, Equinox and Eclipse? constantcruiser Posted November 17, 2015 #42 Share Posted November 17, 2015 My name is constantcruiser and I'm a glass groupie. If Celebrity wants to set itself apart from the other mainstream cruiselines, it needs to offer more unique opportunities. Oh gosh, another bar or restaurant...now there is something I'd never find in my hometown or on a another ship!

And I can't wait to board the Equinox tomorrow and see the glass show once again! :D:D Different strokes for different folks. It's called variety. grandgeezer Posted November 20, 2015 #46 Share Posted November 20, 2015 We don't cruise to overpay for mediocre steaks. I can name a dozen places that have much better steaks for half the price. Glass blowers are talented people who you can only see in a few places. We always go to the shows and walk away amazed at their talents every time. Rare steamboats Posted November 20, 2015 #47 Share Posted November 20, 2015 But what we heard was something different -- the whiskey bar is not replacing the hot glass show by the lawn but instead will be in that interior small space which was a glass exhibit in the past. That´ll make sense. I think they turned this area into a photo studio on the Eclipse during the dry dock earlier this year. Making a specialty bar out of it might be a good idea too. steamboats

jfer8580 Posted November 20, 2015 #49 Share Posted November 20, 2015 Just off the Equinox. The whiskey bar had its grand opening yesterday on our last sea day. I saw it announced in the daily but I forgot all about it until it was too late. It was only opened from noon till five.
