smileytrips Posted November 18, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 18, 2015 If we are not tendering, how much time do you think it would take for us to get off the ship while in port? I realize those with shore excursions would be first but I haven't cruised in such a long time I don't remember how long it takes and what the procedure is. I need to set up a time for my shore excursion which is not through Princess. Thank you.
rob2102 Posted November 18, 2015 #2 Share Posted November 18, 2015 Not very long but it depends on what time you are leaving. It could take up to 45 minutes during the peek hours in the morning, many people are trying to catch early excursions. On average about 30 to 35 minutes. smileytrips Posted November 18, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted November 18, 2015 Yes, it would be first thing but that doesn't sound too bad. Thanks for the info. Sorry everyone for the double posting. I was just trying to edit.
skynight Posted November 18, 2015 #4 Share Posted November 18, 2015 As soon as the announcement is heard that the ship is cleared and passengers can go ashore you can go down to the gangplank and exit. There could be a line of passengers having their cruise cards scanned, but it doesn't take long. At some ports there is more than one gangplank. Excursions are not really an issue when the ship is docked. When the ship docks many times ship's tours meet on shore at a specific time.
cb at sea Posted November 18, 2015 #5 Share Posted November 18, 2015 If it's a docked port, you simply walk off when you're ready. I've never seen it take 45 mins. to walk off a docked ship. Tendering is a bit different, and early ship's tours will use that 1st tender.
Pam in CA Posted November 18, 2015 #6 Share Posted November 18, 2015 When docked, ship's shore excursions don't have priority although often, they disembark at the forward gangway. General disembarkation is usually at the mid-ship gangway.
OCruisers Posted November 18, 2015 #7 Share Posted November 18, 2015 The ship normally arrives in port on time but there are times when it's late getting in. Since you'll be docking, you can go down to the gangplank as soon as the announcement is made that the ship has been cleared. :)
