JTBCruiser Posted December 3, 2015 #26 Share Posted December 3, 2015 We've sailed on two Radiance class ships, Jewel and Serenade but we love the Jewel, so far it is our favorite ship. We sail on Adventure for the first time in March. Interesting comments about the balcony, not seeing the water. We are in a JS for the first time so is this the same issue about the view?

beachluver9 Posted December 3, 2015 #28 Share Posted December 3, 2015 I don't know the answer for sure but I think the metal balconies are only on Voyager, Explorer and Adventure. Adventure is the only Voyager class we have sailed on. The Mariner and the Voyager do not have solid balcony walls. If I remember correctly, the Voyager has blue tinted panels and the Mariner has green tinted panels.

Rala Posted December 3, 2015 #31 Share Posted December 3, 2015 You do realize the Jewel also leaves out of San Juan. Actually, no I did not :o . Thanks for that info. Well, I guess that shoots my Latin music theory all to heck, doesn't it?;) I stand by my Promenade vs. ocean views theory, however. To me the Promenade is just an upscale mall...not where I would choose to be on a cruise! :):D

We also really like the ocean views of the Jewel.
TravelinGert Posted December 4, 2015 #33 Share Posted December 4, 2015 I don't have experience quite yet of either the Adventure or the Jewel. We DO have a cruise booked on the Adventure out of San Juan, though. I can only say our thought process went like this. We want to book another cruise. We want to cruise out of San Juan. We've never been on either class of ship. It works much better for our work schedule to return on a Saturday so that we use less vacation days. Oh look! Ice skating! How exciting! Oh look! Promenade rooms are priced almost as low as an inside! Oh look! The week of Labor Day is much less expensive than just a couple of weeks earlier! And by that time I was booking it. :o :D
karena1 Posted December 4, 2015 #34 Share Posted December 4, 2015 We have also been on both and have done the southern many times. If the itins are the same, would do Adventure just b/c of the promenade and the ice show. The ice show is awesome. We went 2 times last year b/c we enjoyed it so much
