nednrom Posted December 6, 2015 #26 Share Posted December 6, 2015 (edited) First Carnival Cruise a high school graduation gift from my parents -- Carnival Carnivale in 1981 -- scrapped a while back. On a sidenote -- we sailed by ourselves - 4 girls, oldest one 20 year old. We had a little porthole on deck 2. We returned and called my parents for more money to pay for the hotel room and in the morning got up early to watch Princess Di's wedding. Pulled out the photos to post on FB TBT ... it will embarrass all involved. Edited December 6, 2015 by nednrom
Rare MistyRo76 Posted December 7, 2015 #27 Share Posted December 7, 2015 My first cruise was on the Sensation - at that time she was doing 7 day Western/Eastern itineraries out of Miami. We did the Eastern to San Juan, St. Thomas and St. Maarten. I believe the year was 1997 or 1998. Back then they still did the Welcome Aboard Rum Swizzle Party in the casino. Had a blast on that cruise and just took #16 in October of this year. Sensation is still going strong!

MisterFidgetpants Posted December 7, 2015 #29 Share Posted December 7, 2015 My very first was a weeklong New Years 1992/1993 cruise on Ecstasy. She's still in the fleet, sailing shorter itineraries out of Miami.

dfwhgsfan Posted December 8, 2015 #32 Share Posted December 8, 2015 Carnival Celebration Jan 01 for a 5 day out of Galveston for our 10th anniversary cruise. Big Tex was our CD and he was great! They played Come Sail Away by Styx as we set sail. Every time I hear that song, I think about that trip and the fun we had.
theriac Posted December 8, 2015 #33 Share Posted December 8, 2015 My very first Cruise was on The Big Red Boat in I think 95. I have no idea where it is now. I know that this is for Carnival, but I loved that cruise as I was 7 then and seeing my friends jealous faces when they heard I was going on that ship made me so happy. At the time they had a huge ad campaign on Nickelodeon and The Disney Channel. First Carnival cruise was over Thanksgiving on the Inspiration out of Tampa in 05. It's still going strong but home ported in California now.

Greggy_D Posted May 11, 2016 #37 Share Posted May 11, 2016 (edited) My first cruise was back in June, 1990 on the Carnivale. I was 19 at the time and could drink on the boat. We had a porthole room and I vividly remember the "shower" was right in front of the toilet. Essentially you showered in the exact spot where a guy would do a "stand up". I also remember the hallways where you had to step up, over, and through doorways while walking down the hall. The ship was a dump compared to today's standards but back then I had the greatest four days you could imagine. It was an incredible experience for a 19-year-old in 1990. As mentioned above, the ship has been scrapped. Edited May 11, 2016 by Greggy_D
TheTravelista Posted May 11, 2016 #38 Share Posted May 11, 2016 Summer of 96, Carnival Imagination. I was 9 lol She's still around and yup, there were embarkation photos. I'd never sail her today, but thanks for the memories and the experience that got me hooked on cruising :)

FrogFritter Posted May 11, 2016 #40 Share Posted May 11, 2016 (edited) Holiday in 1991, I was 16. It was 7 night western itinerary. They docked in Cozumel until midnight and we had the time of our lives in Carlos & Charlie's. It had a dirt floor, was upstairs and had t-shirts from all over the world on the ceiling. The dance floor was straw and we drank and danced all night with the crew. Man, that was the most fun I had in my life back then. It is Magellan now and yes, we had embarkation photos along with photos with the captain and VHS tapes for sale with the highlights from the week. Haoie Posted May 11, 2016 #41 Share Posted May 11, 2016 Carnival Paradise, Dec 2010. She's still in the fleet, but no longer at Long Beach, CA. I believe Paradise is in Tampa now? Repositioned I think 2 or 3 years ago.

RWolver672 Posted May 11, 2016 #44 Share Posted May 11, 2016 Our first was on the Destiny in 1999, when she first sailed out of Miami. I was hesitant at first but when she went down to the turn-around basin and turned on a dime, I was hooked.

Rare dctravel Posted May 11, 2016 #49 Share Posted May 11, 2016 Mardi Gras in the mid to late 80s (wish I could remember exactly when). I had a good time (as a kid), but my parents said the ship was a dump by then. It took than more than a decade to get on another carnival ship.
