Rare TiogaCruiser Posted January 4, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 4, 2016 I was disappointed that Veendam was not "dressed up" with her signal flags for embarkation in December. Has HAL stopped that custom?
sail7seas Posted January 4, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 4, 2016 That's crummy, I'd be so disappointed. I love when the flags are on bow and stern for embarkation.
Krazy Kruizers Posted January 4, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 4, 2016 I don't remember seeing them on our last couple of cruises.
Despegue Posted January 4, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 4, 2016 Haven't seen them either on our last 2 cruises... Can't be that costly to maintain?!
CGYCruisingFamily Posted January 4, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 4, 2016 They were up on the Oosterdam last week when we got off.
Rare POA1 Posted January 4, 2016 #6 Share Posted January 4, 2016 They're usually up unless it's very windy - and December was a windy month in Fort Lauderdale.
Rare TiogaCruiser Posted January 4, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted January 4, 2016 (edited) I got to wondering and just checked the pictures from March. She's naked then, too. Neither March nor December embarkation were windy or wet. In fact, March had us roasting at over 100 degrees. Dave in NJ Posted January 4, 2016 #9 Share Posted January 4, 2016 (edited) On my last 3 or 4 sailings going back 3 years none of the ships were "dressed" for sailing day. In fact I'm trying to remember when the last time was that I saw the ship "dressed", it may be more than 3 years. Unfortunate if it's being abandoned, it sets a nice tone for departure day, and a nice photo-op. Edited January 4, 2016 by Dave in NJ
Rare TiogaCruiser Posted January 4, 2016 Author #10 Share Posted January 4, 2016 Weather related In December there was a 70% prediction for rain at 7:00p. Sail away was 4:00pm from San Diego. Maybe that was it for that cruise.
