Heirloom Posted January 7, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 7, 2016 ....having been raised in the Big Apple, I KNOW what good pizza tastes like. Have probably eaten it at a few hundred places in my lifetime, from NY, NJ, Pa, Del, NC, SC, Fla, Tex, NM, Cal, Nev, Ariz, Ill, Mo, and maybe even more states. Just returned from a fantastic New Years cruise on the Pride (our 3rd or 4th time on her), and can only say........the new, thin, crispy menu pizzas are EXCELLENT. Small in size, our way to order was a whole pie for each of us. And as far as the pizza "crew" on Pride late at night....the best, hard working pizza makers I've ever met, who deserve a tip now and then ! Perhaps in a couple more weeks, will maybe get on the scale again....but trust me, all of the whole pies "sampled" were worth the added pounds !!!! Freckle53 Posted January 8, 2016 #10 Share Posted January 8, 2016 The Pride was our first last year and the pizza was so good. Also a NYer here, though upstate. Is the pizza similar on other Carnival ships or is it a special Pride thing?

If you are from New York, you think that is the best pizza in the world. They are wrong, but they still think it. chocolate melting cake Posted January 23, 2016 #18 Share Posted January 23, 2016 "Nope CT here..... Check it out Several books rate New Haven pizza as the best. Pepe's, Sally's, Modern Apizza" We agree----CT, specifically New Haven, pizza is the best! While in office Bill and Hillary periodically had Pepe's pizza flown to the White House -- they picked up the craving while attending Yale! heath7767 Posted January 23, 2016 #19 Share Posted January 23, 2016 I agree! We sailed on the Pride from Tampa in February 2015, and the pizza was amazing! The thin crust makes not heavy, and it wasn't greasy at all, so it was a wonderful late-night snack.
kmac30 Posted January 23, 2016 #20 Share Posted January 23, 2016 No one in our group liked the pizza but then again we are from Chicago so there is no comparision.

LOL ... we're from the Carolinas and thought it was terrible :D On the Sunshine - The red/tomato sauce on the pizza tasted just like the red/tomato sauce that smothers many of the dishes on the MDR menu rather than pizza sauce. flips7 Posted January 23, 2016 #23 Share Posted January 23, 2016 I owned my own pizza shop for years and the pizza is OK not good not bad. It is a nice snack after drinking all night.
Velvetwater Posted January 23, 2016 #24 Share Posted January 23, 2016 As much as US pizza is ok it has nothing on real Italian pizza (sorry guys!) and I think Carnival has gone for the more traditional European method with its thin base and large quantity of topping.Carnival Pizza is really good to say its free. Having been to Italy 3 times I can say Carnival does not beat it but its a really great offering. I have fond memories of drunken pizza parties on Lido after htting the club. I do wish I had tried the old pizza though...just to compare. :)
