shipsealand Posted January 7, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 7, 2016 My DW and I have been trying to book an Australian/New Zealand cruise on the Ovation. Even though it is about one year out, the January 9, 2017 sailing has no balcony cabins. The selection of balcony cabins for the Dec 15, 2016 sailing is very limited and those available are no that desirable. What is going on? Any suggestions on how to get a cabin at mid-ships or mid-aft?
goodycruising Posted January 7, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 7, 2016 (edited) We were lucky to get an obstructed on deck 6 a few weeks ago. The only other thing i would suggest it to watch out near final penalty or payment if there are some cancellations. We were waiting for the price to get better but jumped on when availability got very low. Edited January 7, 2016 by goodycruising
tomatosauce Posted January 7, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 7, 2016 They had over 20,000 people register to get an email when it first went on sale. It is also here (largely) over school holidays and only doing 4 cruises whilst it is here. All in all a recipe for it selling well (and being rather pricey). GUT2407 Posted January 7, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 7, 2016 Simply we don't get anything like that down here very often. Personally not too my tastes, but those who like that sort of ship, or just want to give it a try pretty much outnumbered the number of available berths. Pumbaamd Posted January 13, 2016 #7 Share Posted January 13, 2016 Book anything you can to get your foot in the door. It will be easier later just to change cabins than to make a new booking. (You can always cancel before final payment.) Check available cabins at least twice a day. You never know who will cancel any cabin at any time. Stay on top of it and don't count on a travel agent to do it. Persevere, as we have always done, and you may find yourself an ideal cabin. We've been very fortunate doing this. Best wishes, Rick and Deirdra
