jennymaxgirl Posted January 7, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 7, 2016 I understand we are allowed to bring bottles of water and a flat of soda. But what about nonalcoholic beer? Is this allowed to be brought onboard to our stateroom? Thanks
satxdiver Posted January 7, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 7, 2016 You should be able to bring it aboard. However security at the terminal may not know what non-alcoholic beer is exactly (we called it near beer) and may see only the word beer printed on the can which they would reject. If you decide to do this be prepared to explain what it is and doesn't have any alcohol.

Aus Traveller Posted January 7, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 7, 2016 I am sure the label has the words "non-alcoholic" on it. We used to take non-alcoholic 'wine' for medicinal purposes (it really was). It was packaged in wine-shaped bottles and there was always a question. We photocopied a label and enlarged it so it could be read easily. We would have to unwrap one bottle and show them the photocopy of the label. Of course the security person was very dubious, but when they saw it was non-alcoholic, it was OK.:)
skynight Posted January 7, 2016 #6 Share Posted January 7, 2016 (edited) My thinking is a little different than the previous posters. The statement on the luggage tag is "Other liquors, spirits or beers are prohibited." The statement does not specify alcoholic beers, and if taken as written means all beer. I might assume that this could cause confusion on boarding as non-alcoholic beer is still beer. I would say be prepared for anything. If they let you board the beer, ok, if not ok also. silverbird Posted January 7, 2016 #7 Share Posted January 7, 2016 If you decide to try this, please let us know what happens. Of course, the reaction at each ship could be different. Thank you, SilverBird
snowskier Posted January 7, 2016 #8 Share Posted January 7, 2016 Non-alcohol beers do have alcohol. It is a very low amount - stated on the label. Google is your friend and it is easy to see the percentage of alcohol in each brand with a quick query. Not trying to start a debate on what effect such a low percentage of alcohol may have as that is not relevant to this post. No idea if they will let it on or not but the rules don't say "you can bring it if it has less than xx percentage of alcohol". No idea if the folks checking even realize there is alcohol in it. Sorry this isn't an answer to the question but if the rules are folowed it can't be brought on.
