PGBSAB Posted January 9, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 9, 2016 Hi All, can anyone tell me if you turn platinum during a cruise, if you are platinum for that entire cruise when you turn platinum...or...do you have to complete that cruise before it happens. I have heard different scenarios and don't know how it works. Would be great if it was for the entire cruise where you turn platinum (our is two days into the cruise). Thanks! kingston13 Posted January 9, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 9, 2016 Platinum on that cruise. When you print boarding pass and luggage tags it will show priority
zdcatc12 Posted January 10, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 10, 2016 I have heard different scenarios and don't know how it works. Thanks! The different scenarios would have been for different lines, e.g. on NCL, if you hit it during a cruise, you don't get the benefits until the next one. Canadian_J Posted January 10, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 10, 2016 Also, if you're on a back to back cruise and you become Platinum on the second leg, they give you Platinum status for both legs! We thought that was a nice touch :)

JohnSpo Posted January 11, 2016 #7 Share Posted January 11, 2016 My 75th day was not until the last day of the cruise but I started receiving the Carnival Platinum perks on day 1 before I even stepped on the ship.
gamecockinnc Posted April 19, 2016 #8 Share Posted April 19, 2016 (edited) Hi, I am 5 points from Platnium. We are doing back to back cruises this summer. We are on the Glory cruising East first and then west the second week. I used my TA and I understand that I must make sure we are on the back to back list so we can go with the group through customs and back on board between cruises. My question though is regarding turning platnium. From what y'all have said we may be granted our platnium status before the back to back cruises start? FTTF is sold out on both sailings so I really am trying to figure this out. Does anyone know if the platnium benefits will start before the cruises and how to go about making sure it does for luggage tags and boarding for the first cruise. And if not then what about the second cruise. We tender in several ports and I will admit the easier the better. I am not usually one to want perks but the boarding in Miami, luggage delivery and tendering through out the 2 weeks on board would be helpful. Any advice? Thanks, TA Edited April 19, 2016 by gamecockinnc
evandbob Posted April 19, 2016 #9 Share Posted April 19, 2016 Gamecockinnc: As answered above before your posting you turn platinum on the first week if you are just 5 points away.
JohnSpo Posted April 19, 2016 #10 Share Posted April 19, 2016 On my last cruise I turned Platinum on the last day but I was Platinum upon embarkation. I enjoyed the Platinum perks.

Princess does the same thing. Like the way CCL does it.

Here is what Carnival says: "Guests graduating into a new level during a cruise will receive the benefits of the new level they are graduating into from the beginning of the cruise (e.g. those graduating to Gold on the 3rd day of a 5-day cruise will receive Gold benefits for the entire duration of their cruise)." https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2938/~/vifp-club---carnivals-recognition-program Congratulations on becoming Platinum!
