Backround is i am 56 year old mom traveling with adult children ages 21 and 28 sailing in H4 2 bedroom suite on the Getaway. I have cruised with Ncl ( 20 years ago) Royal Caribbean,Princess Carnival and Celestyal. My children have not cruised since they were very little. So we flew in to Fll the day before and rented a car drove to the Miami Hilton Blue Lagoon. Beautiful hotel and room. Drove a few blocks away to pick up bottled water and a light dinner. Not knowing our way around we entered a not so nice area and quickly made our way in another direction. So glad we did, we found a charming Cuban restaurant . An amazing veal shank for me, pulled pork for my son and a chicken cordon blu for my daughter smothered in cheese with olives for the cuban twist. A few mojitos to end the dinner and we were stuffed! Made it back to the hotel for a few hours of sleep. One note as we were driving to the entrance of the hotel there was a police escort for a guest at the hotel complete with body guards and enterouge. They whisked him into the hotel and we never could find out who he was...

Ok so

DAY ONE

We left around 9am to drop the rental car at the port well they said the port but it actually was downtown. We had planned on taking their shuttle to the port but after waiting about 15 min with tons of other people for the shuttle we grabbed a taxi for 10 bucks and arrived in about 5 min. Dropped our luggage walked to the terminal and into the Haven waiting area to check in. Coffee juices and small pastries were available. We waited maybe ten minutes or so and were escorted upstairs for a "short" wait. So excited and anxious to be on board. Tried to launch the iconsierge app which took me a little while to figure out but we were unable to connect to the ship internet which we had pre purchased. More on that later in the review. We chatted with a few people ( sorry to the cc roll call members that we didn't get to meet you)and we waited and waited to be escorted on the ship. I dont know if the usual procedure is to checkin in terminal c and board in terminal B but they had us walk through the holding area with 5000 of our closest friends some who werent too happy to see us boarding by the glares we received but here we go we are onboard greeted by the washy washy staff and put into staff elevators to the haven lounge. Our cruise has now officially begun

When we arrived in the haven lounge there were already quite a few people already there. Is there another holding room somewhere other than where we were? I never found out the answer as to how so many were already boarded before us when we checked in at 10 am. Not a problem just curious.

Sliders and fries were passed out with drinks. Virginia the Concierge made a short speech. Our rooms were ready and the haven restaurant was open.

If someone can be so kind to tell me how to post pictures i would appreciate it.

We chose to have lunch before seeing our room. Service was great. Staff informed us of their hours and also passed out canapes. We officially christened our ubp with margaritas and enjoyed our lunch. Off to see our room and explore the ship before muster.

Entering our room the table is filled with announcements invitations and pre purchased excursion tickets. The coffee table has fresh flowers, sparkling wine is iced down and our wonderful room steward Christian came by to introduce himself.

I had researched the room as much as i could for the last year and it was what i expected except i had asked for a few things through the pre Concierge and none of it was done. Little things like the fridge to be emptied and stocked with milk extra towels and our pillow selections and my one vice peanut m&m's. I got The impression the pre concierge did not pass the info on. I went out to the Concierge in the haven lounge and asked about it and the fact that we could not access the internet. So this was a small stress in what would be a wonderful week. I was told that even though we had pre purchased the unlimted internet plan that ncl had never charged the credit card even though i knew they had but since i couldnt connect to the internet i couldnt retrieve the confirmation email.

Long story short i purchased the internet package again connected and pulled up my confirmation of the package. Then ncl miraculously found it and refunded my onboard account two days later. This was one of many accounting errors for the week and i will say while the iconcierge app is nice for reservations and keeping in touch with those on board it is not accurate of your on board charges and needs to be fixed. While it wasn't a problem for me i can see for those on a limited budget or low limit on their credit card how it could cause a problem

I'm enjoying your report. I'm not totally sure about posting photos but I think you first need to upload them to someplace like Photobucket, Flickr etc, then you post the link/URL from that site/pic by clicking the 'insert image' icon in the reply box.

I'm sailing in June in a two bedroom Haven suite so I am very excited to see your thoughts on this trip. What room number were you in? Was there any noise issues? Thanks for posting your review. I'll be following.

16106 very quiet and there were small children next to us no noise issues at all!
