abatlin Posted January 12, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2016 has anyone had any experience with Vinpearl Land Amusement Park in Nha Trang? We are thinking of doing this while in Nha Trang.
Rare John Bull Posted January 12, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 12, 2016 (edited) This was about 5 years ago, things will doubtless have changed / expanded. Firstly, Vin Pearl ain't "Vietnam". Don't waste your time there if sight-seeing is your thing, But we'd had about a dozen other ports in S E Asia including 5 days in Vietnam, so we used our half-day in Nha Trang as a break from sight-seeing. We were berthed under the cable cars to Vin Pearl (larger ships berth at the other end of town) so it was only a short walk to the cablecar station. I forget the cost but it was low, and included the cable car, the aquarium, the superb water park, a street of shops and a few theme-park-type rides. Also an excellent beach, and beyond were hotels, golf course, etc. Think of it as a very very laid-back version of a Disney park. Immaculate, very refined, very friendly & polite, very quiet- that's the sort of thing that may have changed. The aquarium is mainly one huge indoor pool, you walk through the bottom along a glass tunnel & it's a great way to see everything. One of our group was quite expert on marine life - having seen a hammerhead shark lurking, she pointed to a sign written in Vietnamese & told us it said Hammerhead Shark. "No", said a Vietnamese woman behind us "it says please do not lean on the glass " :D Thoroughly enjoyed our time on Vin Pearl, would gladly have had a full day. :) One disquieting thing. We returned to the mainland on the cable car (great aerial photos of the ship). But shortly after re-boarding the ship & enjoying a drink, we noticed that the string of cable cars had stopped. They remained stationary for a half-hour or more & re-started just as we were getting underway. There were the alternatives of a waterbus or a pay-extra speedboat, but they'd not have been much use to those stuck in a cable car. No-one on the ship was stuck or missed the sailing. To repeat, a great "park" day out. But I guess there's plenty of those in Texas. JB :) Edited January 12, 2016 by John Bull
abatlin Posted January 13, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted January 13, 2016 Thank you so very much for your quick and detailed reply. This sounds exactly like what we are looking for. Having cruised the area before, doing all the different kinds of sight seeing, then this time, making multiple stops in Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam, this will be a wonderful break, allowing us to just unwind and enjoy. Sounds like similar circumstances to our own. So it makes a good deal of sense to "take a day off" Don't forget your swim/beach wear.
