jayscore Posted January 16, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2016 (edited) Does anyone out there have a picture of the "top drawer, or bathroom hair drier*"? I've seen on past cruises? Thanks in advance!;) *Or, is it "dryer" Edited January 16, 2016 by jayscore spelling
Cruzlover7 Posted January 16, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 16, 2016 I don't have a picture but I can tell you that you have to hold the button the entire time to keep it running. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
IPlayWithString Posted January 16, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 16, 2016 I can tell you from experience, unless you have short hair. fuhgeddaboutit. Those hair dryers don't have enough juice to dry your hair properly. The last time I tried to use one, I gave up after about half an hour of trying to get my thick, mid-back length hair dry because my arms were tired from holding it and I was getting a cramp in my hand from trying to keep the button pressed down. sweetsixteencruisers Posted January 16, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 16, 2016 (edited) I have short hair. And I think it's the worst! The cord is ridiculously short. I bring my own. Sorry no pictures! Edited January 16, 2016 by sweetsixteencruisers

lylone Posted January 16, 2016 #7 Share Posted January 16, 2016 I have long hair and have used the dryer on 3 ships. No problems at all. I use a hair elastic to keep the button pressed.
sandij Posted January 16, 2016 #8 Share Posted January 16, 2016 They'd be good to dry perhaps a little kids hair, don't blow hard or hot.

WAHMto5 Posted January 16, 2016 #10 Share Posted January 16, 2016 My kids use it no problem, my hair is too long and would take forever.
rufflesmom Posted January 16, 2016 #11 Share Posted January 16, 2016 My hair is longer but one time I decided to try the one in the cabin. I had to run it for so long that it overheated. Guess what? It has an automatic shutoff that kicks in if the dryer overheats! You have to wait for it to cool down. And my hair wasn't dry yet. Fortunately I had my own dryer. Lesson learned. I always take mine now.
RuthlessBoss Posted January 16, 2016 #12 Share Posted January 16, 2016 You've been on 8 cruises. Why in the world do you need a picture:confused:
JaneAustenite Posted January 17, 2016 #13 Share Posted January 17, 2016 I have short hair. And I think it's the worst! The cord is ridiculously short. I bring my own. Sorry no pictures! I thought that you weren't able to bring your own. Do you need a converter?
sweetsixteencruisers Posted January 17, 2016 #14 Share Posted January 17, 2016 I thought that you weren't able to bring your own. Do you need a converter? Only one time I used their blow dryer. I've been bringing my own since. Never had to use a converter. Blow dryers are permitted.

JaneAustenite Posted January 18, 2016 #16 Share Posted January 18, 2016 Great! My hair takes forever to dry, so, now that I know, I plan on bringing my own.
jayscore Posted January 18, 2016 Author #17 Share Posted January 18, 2016 (edited) You've been on 8 cruises. Why in the world do you need a picture:confused: Good question, actually..... Would you believe I want to clamp that nasty momentary button, being an arthritic hand has a tough time holding onto it for any length of time?(I'm sure I'll be getting some grief on this, for one reason or the other, eh?) Simple as that.;) Thanks for asking, though! Edited January 18, 2016 by jayscore content

Simple as that.;) Thanks for asking, though! That makes perfect sense, even without arthritis I find that button to be quite annoying. I would bring a few wide, thick, rubber bands (like the kind that come wrapped around asparagus at the grocery store) and try wrapping that over the button to keep it depressed. Maybe with a hair and wrapped over the rubber band for added strength. I think the hair band would probably slip off on its own. Alternatively, you can get a very small inexpensive travel hair dryer that switches on and off and bring that with you. They don't take up much room.
