hartwickds Posted January 19, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 19, 2016 Has there been a change to the UBP? I was reviewing the website recently and thought I saw that now it only covers drinks up to $11? I was on the Epic in late November/early December and swore it coved everything up to and including $15...
jeffregpuck Posted January 19, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 19, 2016 HMMM...limit was $11.00 on my cruise to Alaska back in July/august of 2015, and has since changed to $15.00 is my understanding.

Disembarked yesterday and never had any problems with any drinks we ordered, some of over $11 after yet another bar price hike in December. Where do you see that limit on the website? Demonyte Posted January 19, 2016 #6 Share Posted January 19, 2016 It's been $11 for months. Nope. "Norwegian's Ultimate Beverage Package includes a variety of spirits, cocktails, wines by the glass and bottled or draft beer up to and including $15 and unlimited fountain soda and juices at all bars, lounges, restaurants and the Great Stirrup Cay." https://www.ncl.com/terms/ultimate-beverage-package
mtsnd1900 Posted January 19, 2016 #7 Share Posted January 19, 2016 $15... it was $11; They changed it to $15 right around the same time they started to charge the 18% gratuity and taxes on the plan that was originally 100% free. the offer now reads: "The first two guests can enjoy a drink (who are we kidding, drinks) for the whole cruise vacation for free. That's unlimited wine, soda, beer and cocktails priced under $15. Have another, we won't tell.*" Reference: https://www.ncl.com/specials-and-promotions/choice and https://www.ncl.com/terms/ultimate-beverage-package

kapcruiser Posted January 19, 2016 #9 Share Posted January 19, 2016 Just making sure, if there are 3 in the room, the 3rd person does not get UBP for free?

Whether 3rd gets the package for free depends on the promo rules active on the time of the booking, the current ones are here: https://www.ncl.com/termsandconditions/choicejan2016?hide_hf=true
sssccc Posted January 19, 2016 #11 Share Posted January 19, 2016 No, they don't charge taxes on the package. Stop giving crap info. It confuses people. The info is not crap. They do charge 18% Gratuity on the UBP now. I just yesterday booked a 7 day cruise to Alaska for July and I was charged Gratuity on the UBP calculated on $69pp/pdXno. of adults in cabinXno. of daysX18%. Try making a booking online and pick UBP as your free perk and you will see that the gratuity gets added to the total payable.

They do charge 18% grat/service charge. As the T&Cs say, you may be charged VAT/tax in certain ports and itineraries, but this is based per transaction and is not charged when booking. Instead, these charges appear on your shipboard account. The taxes part of that post was crap. Edited January 19, 2016 by triptolemus

I think you are right. mtsnd1900 used the word "18% gratuity and taxes". It should have been just "18% gratuity". The words "and taxes" not applicable. Sorry I missed that. triptolemus Posted January 20, 2016 #17 Share Posted January 20, 2016 Does the 3rd person have to get UBP? When the UBP is obtained by pax 1 and 2 via a promotion, the other passengers in the cabin are not required to purchase UBP.
