Lizzie68 Posted January 20, 2016 #51 Share Posted January 20, 2016 (edited) 15 minutes ago I heard "as soon as the captain gets here we'll start singling up". Where the heck would the captain be? Edited January 20, 2016 by Lizzie68
Krazy Kruizers Posted January 20, 2016 #52 Share Posted January 20, 2016 (edited) What -- the captain isn't on the ship? Now I could understand if Burt & Jack's restaurant was still at the end of the dock area that he went there for dinner. Randyk47 Posted January 20, 2016 #53 Share Posted January 20, 2016 The gangway is pulled away so maybe we'll get some movement shortly.
Boytjie Posted January 20, 2016 #54 Share Posted January 20, 2016 Checking in between making dinner... Is that a truck I saw drive away and the lines are dropped?

Krazy Kruizers Posted January 21, 2016 #60 Share Posted January 21, 2016 I don't know if we will hear any toots. When we were on the Westerdam in 2013 and left at 7 PM -- no toots.

Lizzie68 Posted January 21, 2016 #63 Share Posted January 21, 2016 Here comes QM2 - but she probably won't toot after dark, will she? I don't think so going by previous late departures. But hopefully we are wrong.:D

Boytjie Posted January 21, 2016 #74 Share Posted January 21, 2016 (edited) And the best place to hear that horn is on the top deck midships... best toot ever! Queen Mother of toots! "Queen Mary 2 has an extremely powerful whistle. Of her three whistles, one is actually an original taken from Queen Mary of 1936. If you look carefully at the video, you can identify this whistle as the one with steam being expelled when sounded (it's on the funnel). QM2's horn is an A, two octaves below middle-A. It can be heard 10 miles away." Those are very deep toots, believe me they sound a lot different in person.
