golfb4cruzing Posted January 19, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 19, 2016 I couldn't find this answer on Carnival dot com and got no response from Mr Carnival, just some snarky comments from his faithful. I could have cruise lines confused but does Carnival offer any multi bottle wine packages? I remember someone coming around the first night in MDR with some sort of deal. The single bottle prices are absurd.

We were able to purchase a package right then.

It's cheaper than buying individual bottles, but still represents a mark-up of about 300%. http://www.***********/info/carnival-cruise-lines/wine-packages.php If the link doesn't work, just Google "Carnival Wine Packages" Edited January 19, 2016 by JAGR
NCTribeFan Posted January 19, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 19, 2016 You can purchase after you board (I've seen tables set up on some ships), and once at sea, you can purchase in the candy shop. Or, you can wait and purchase in the MDR. Three of my past 4 cruises have been Premier Casino sailings (I got free drinks in the casino), so I didn't purchase the package. But, typically, I always get one. Got the mid-range package on Splendor to Bermuda at the end of October and, honestly, I prefer the wines on the cheapest option, so I'll go back to that next time. :D

summersigh Posted January 19, 2016 #8 Share Posted January 19, 2016 (edited) I copied this to prepare for our Jan Sunshine CCL Cruise: Wine Packages – CCL =When ordering you select your wine package size and type: 3 or 5 & Basic, Deluxe, or Premium. =You then will receive wine coupons. If you purchase by calling Bon Voyage your coupons will be left in your cabin. If you purchase through the Main Dining Room your coupons will be given to you at that time. =The number of coupons you receive depends on the package size you select (ex. 5 wine package = 5 coupons). =You don't actually select the specific wines until you are ready to drink them. =You can use your wine coupons at any onboard bar which serves wine or in the Main Dining Room. =Once you have given the bartender or waiter your wine coupon and wine choice, the bottle is then brought to you. =If you order in the Main Dining Room and do not finish the bottle you will have 3 options: you can either take the bottle with you or they will re-cork it and save it for your next visit to the Main Dining Room. ************************************************** ***************************************** 3 Wine Package Pricing: Basic $77, Deluxe $97, Premium $114 (available on cruises 5 days or shorter) 5 Wine Package Pricing: Basic $131, Deluxe $153, Premium $193 (available on cruises 5 days or longer) ************************************************** Basic Wine Package Barefoot Bubbly, Brut Cuvee Copper Ridge, White Zinfandel Zonin, Pinot Grigio Clifford Bay, Sauvignon Blanc Barefoot, Chardonnay Barefoot, Pinot Noir Bogle, Merlot Twisted, Zinfandel Black Swan, Shiraz Smoking Loon, Cabernet Sauvignon Deluxe Wine Package Zonin, Prosecco Castello Del Poggio, Moscato Oyster Bay, Sauvignon Blanc Schmitt Sohne, Riesling Spatlese Kendall Jackson, Vintner’s Reserve, Chardonnay Murphy Goode, Merlot Concha y Toro Casillero del Diablo, Cabernet Sauvignon Bodega Santa Elena, Malbec Domaine Darons de Rothschild Lafite, Bordeaux Premium Wine Package Paul Louis, Blanc de Blanc Ecco Domain, Pinot Grigio Ferrari-Carano, Fume Blanc Pouilly-Fuisse, Burgundy Frei Brothers, Chardonnay Kendall-Jackson, Vintner’s Reserve, Pinot Noir Kendall- Jackson, Vintner’s Reserve, Merlot Hess Select, Cabernet Sauvignon Melini, Classic Riserva, Chianti Yangarra, Shiraz Edited January 19, 2016 by summersigh
JAGR Posted January 19, 2016 #9 Share Posted January 19, 2016 Thanks everyone. Great help. I didn't see it noted by others, but by purchasing before getting on the boat saves you the 15% add-on for gratuities if bought on board.
brenjmull2 Posted February 3, 2016 #10 Share Posted February 3, 2016 I didn't know that about saving the 15%. We are going to be on a 14 night cruise, I wish they would offer a larger package at a better price.. I might have to order 2 packages pre cruise then.. love2travel41 Posted February 4, 2016 #13 Share Posted February 4, 2016 Are you aware each adult can bring one bottle in his/her carry-on luggage and have it in your stateroom/ (corking fee if you take it to dining room). If you like wine like we do, one bottle each might not be enough! It's a start. iloveNOLA Posted February 4, 2016 #14 Share Posted February 4, 2016 Are we allowed to sit on the lido and drink the wine we purchase as a package?
ashevillenccruiser Posted February 4, 2016 #15 Share Posted February 4, 2016 Yes, we enjoyed ours on lido and in the comedy club... You can redeem the tickets at any bar on the ship (I believe)
elliair Posted February 4, 2016 #16 Share Posted February 4, 2016 It can be purchased in advance as well, but not online. You have to call. What department do you ask for? As someone stated here, if you purchase it before boarding there's no 15% gratuity? That's a huge savings if true.
pohlerbear Posted February 4, 2016 #17 Share Posted February 4, 2016 If you don't use all the coupons, do they expire? We bought the package on he Pride last year, and the coupons said they expired the last day of the cruise.
steelersfan4ever Posted February 4, 2016 #18 Share Posted February 4, 2016 If you do the basic package you are still paying $26 for a bottle of wine that I can purchase at home for $5 (Barefoot Chardonnay).

Drazil65 Posted February 4, 2016 #20 Share Posted February 4, 2016 (edited) I didn't see it noted by others, but by purchasing before getting on the boat saves you the 15% add-on for gratuities if bought on board. Well, no not really, the $131 is the price including gratuity. When you board and go to the tables set up or the MDR has a big sign out front to purchase the wine package for $114 for the 5 bottle package but then they add the 15% and it comes out to $131. We purchased the 5 bottle wine package last month before boarding the Valor, it was $131. We saw the sign out front of MDR the first night and asked about it being $114 and were told (in MDR and at GS) that the $114 does not include the 15% and that would be added at purchase. So $131 either way, but no corkage fee in MDR or if they bring it up through room service. We liked it either way and it worked well for us with the 2 bottles we carried on as well. tandemcruzr Posted February 4, 2016 #21 Share Posted February 4, 2016 If you don't use all the coupons, do they expire? We've done several B2B cruises and the coupons do NOT carry over from one cruise to the next. However, if you buy 2 packages on the first leg, you could use the coupons from one package and take the wine unopened to your cabin for use on the second leg. Or just buy the second package the first day of your second leg. Another thought -- if your cruise is a 14 day cruise, the coupons should be good for the duration of the cruise. Sales tax will not be charged at sea so they should not charge sales tax if you purchase the wine package in the MDR.
BigB0882 Posted February 4, 2016 #24 Share Posted February 4, 2016 I wonder why they don't have a Pinot Noir on the Deluxe package. Can you choose from the package below you as well, so if you got the Deluxe can you choose any wine from that package or the one below it? That would include a Pinot at least but seems odd not to have one. They are including Barefoot Pinot in the first package which is fine but it costs $6 a bottle on land. lol

If you like wine like we do, one bottle each might not be enough! It's a start. Yes but we are used to Princess where things are a bit lax. Some will say it is not so but I've boxed and had delivered no less than 6 bottles per cruise from the dock with a cabin tag. Knowing Carnival is much stricter, we traveled with them up to 2012, I wanted to know the rules. We will bring our allowance but needed to know options because we have a group with us this time. I see, as usual, the prices are on the crazy end of the scale. Thanks everyone.
