iancal Posted January 31, 2016 #101 Share Posted January 31, 2016 (edited) That's the challenge. The food and service in the MDR is the same for the person who paid $60 per diem for a last minute inside/outside as it is for the person who paid $300. (or more) per diem for a suite. This is a challenge for the cruise lines. There is only so much of a premium that people will pay either for real estate, aspirational desires, or a sense of entitlement. And the person who spent $60 per diem can very easily attend the optional dining venues every night if he/she so wish. cruisejunkie76 Posted February 17, 2016 #102 Share Posted February 17, 2016 I agree. It's VACATION Just enjoy. However you alwasy have those Kind of People that Needs to complain about everything. The best Thing is: there was not enought/bad Food. On a cruise ship????? I read an article once that said People that complain are not satisfied within their relationship and transfer that unhappines to something else to get "release"
navybankerteacher Posted February 17, 2016 #103 Share Posted February 17, 2016 There are a number of reasons people complain on these threads: A)They went on their first cruise after years of saving for it, dreaming about it, believing the glossy brochures - and one or two things were wrong - so they focused on the ways reality did not live up to their dreams. B) They are experienced cruisers - and cannot help noticing - and commenting on - things which in a recent experience fell short of the norm. C) They are unhappy people who always focus on the negative. D) They want to impress others with their broad experience and sophistication and find the easiest way is to pose as sophisticates who are above the commonplace. E) They are rabid fans of one particular line - and see attacking other lines as a way of supporting their favorite. The list goes on - basically, being human, they are what they are. Quilting_Cruiser Posted February 17, 2016 #104 Share Posted February 17, 2016 I read an article once that said People that complain are not satisfied within their relationship and transfer that unhappines to something else to get "release" There's some pop psych for you! LOL. I assume by "their relationship" the article is referring to a romantic relationship... Let's see, I guess that means people who aren't in a relationship and still complain are not satisfied with not having a relationship? I find it humorous that the source of happiness or discontent is the quality of a relationship. Thank goodness that's not true unless we allow it to be! Elaine5715 Posted February 17, 2016 #105 Share Posted February 17, 2016 I'm sorry but I tried to post this before but it disappeared. Sigh. But I was wondering why so may people were so unhappy about their cruises. I go on a cruise to relax. I don't have to clean my cabin. I don't have to shop for dinner, I don't have to do the dishes and I don't need to cook. I can do what I want on the ship and have no one to answer to . I don't look for everything that might be wrong, such as cracked bathroom shower tiles or someone not painting the outside of the ship. My house is not without problems either. So why do so many people expect perfection? It truly is beyond me. This is my vacation, get away time. Why should I expect perfection? I don't have it at home.:) Because by complaining they are hoping to get rewarded with comps. Poor Guest Service practices to reward bad behavior with freebies and then those bad guests brag about it on social media causing other bad guests to cry about "what about me" I am special also!". My final answer is: All Of The Above. :) The worst I heard on our most recent cruise was when standing in line at the Excursion Desk to book a tour, and overhearing the guy behind me complaining he had been standing in line for 5 minutes to get to the front of the line, saying in a loud voice, so everyone could hear, "I'm Elite, and there should be a special line for us!". (i.e.other Elite passengers). How sad. He couldn't chill. Edited February 17, 2016 by Kingofcool1947
Beachdude Posted February 17, 2016 #109 Share Posted February 17, 2016 Many people who feel unimportant in their personal life participate in these discussions because sanctimonious criticism of other people gives them a bit of euphoria. moniquet Posted February 17, 2016 #110 Share Posted February 17, 2016 I think sometimes the cruise lines set themselves up for critical guests to find fault. Their glossy brochures and TV ads give an impression of perfection on board. The ships are gorgeous, the food photos look like Michelin 4*, the models are beautiful, the sky is blue, the white gloves on the stewards create an 'image'. Some folks board expecting that to be reality. If their toilet doesn't flush or they don't have hot water one night for their shower, they start to crash and burn and the small little slip ups become major catastrophies. Absolutely agree. Was thinking the same when I arrived at your post.
moniquet Posted February 17, 2016 #111 Share Posted February 17, 2016 Why do people seem to take it personally when their favourite cruise line is criticised:confused:
