Elaine5715 Posted February 3, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 3, 2016 Does anyone know if they still give out decks of cards at the purser's desk? Get them early in your cruise. The hogs will strip the supply.
cfitch Posted February 3, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 3, 2016 Depends on the ship. I have asked early on some smaller ships and the said no.
13cheermom Posted February 3, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 3, 2016 We actually got ours on the last night of our cruise in December and he actually still gave us 2 decks. It was on the Breeze so maybe they had re-stocked recently but we were surprised.
pmoniz Posted February 3, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted February 3, 2016 Thanks everyone!! We usually like to play a few card games while on board. I'll throw a deck in my bag just in case!
Jenn24101 Posted February 3, 2016 #8 Share Posted February 3, 2016 I remember asking when we were on the liberty and weren't given any but we were able to buy a deck for $1 in the casino. Worked for us! The only thing is they only took cash so we had to come back and get them as we weren't carrying any money.

I find the ones from GS to be somewhat thin / flimsy.

Californian Posted July 11, 2016 #13 Share Posted July 11, 2016 I know that people do not like others to use the buffet area for playing cards, so my question is where can we play cards on the Imagination? Is there a game room? Any suggestions?

Is there a game room? Any suggestions? I've seen people playing cards in the Atrium when there is nothing else going on there. Also in the ship's library. I'm sure of you look around, you'll find a place to play where there aren't other activities taking place.
Sabalon Posted July 11, 2016 #15 Share Posted July 11, 2016 Daughter went to guest services to ask for some on day 7 of our cruise and they gave her two packs. She was very happy.
Rare Racegirl6 Posted July 11, 2016 #16 Share Posted July 11, 2016 Are they still the cards with your ship on them, or just Carnival logo cards?
Sabalon Posted July 11, 2016 #17 Share Posted July 11, 2016 Are they still the cards with your ship on them, or just Carnival logo cards? I didn't get a good look at them, but I think they were just the logo. Not sure where they are now, but she's asleep.

Is there a game room? Any suggestions? The card room is now one of the kids club houses. There are tables all over the lido deck, play between meal times. There are also a few tables on Empress, next to the Shore Excursion desk. Kind of hidden in plain site. Is there a game room? Any suggestions? On Celebrity we and several others played bridge in the buffet, aft in the afternoon. It was virtually deserted then and nobody cared. I see no reason people should be disturbed by this. A pox on all their houses! Dan
deborahjo Posted July 11, 2016 #20 Share Posted July 11, 2016 We were told we had to go to the Casino to get a deck of cards. They then tried to charge us $2 for a deck. Thank goodness I had a deck back in my room from several cruises ago. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
bakersdozen12 Posted July 11, 2016 #21 Share Posted July 11, 2016 I don't know what a purser's desk is, but we got a couple packs at Guest Services on the Conquest just a couple of days ago. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app The Purser's Desk and the Guest Services Desk are the same thing. While most cruise lines refer to it as the "Guest Services Desk", there are a few that still refer to it as the "Purser's Desk". Have you ever watched "The Love Boat"? Gopher was known as the ship's purser.
Ready2Cruise2016 Posted July 11, 2016 #23 Share Posted July 11, 2016 I hope we can get some on the Breeze! Even if it means buying them in the casino. I am making a "cruiseopoly" of our two cruises for the kids. I want to use the cards as the back of our property cards, so the back has the carnival logo (or ship name... whatever is on the back of the cards).
