StLouisCruisers Posted February 11, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 11, 2016 Kindles do indeed work on the ship. We have done South America twice, once from Rio to San Francisco and the second time Ft. Lauderdale to Los Angeles.

paul929207 Posted February 11, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 11, 2016 I have a Kindle Paperwhite. I used it on my last cruise around the South Pacific. It worked great. I loaded it with books before we left, so I did not download any on the trip.
alaskagirl2010 Posted February 11, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 11, 2016 I never could get the kindle wifi to work by itself over the ship's wifi. If you have an iPhone, you can use the hot spot to link your kindle to wifi. That's assuming you purchase an Internet package. Then you can download books. XBGuy Posted February 11, 2016 #7 Share Posted February 11, 2016 We sailed from Valparaiso through the canal to Fort Lauderdale. For us it was a fantastic experience. I don't think they do the bus ride from Arrica (northern Chile) to the Altiplano anymore (I may be wrong), but that was amazing. In Peru my wife was able to ride a Passo horse, and that completely thrilled her. I was wearing shorts, that day, and some little bugs feasted on my legs. That itched like crazy for 2 or 3 days. Our stop in Ecuador was cancelled because of a problem with one of the ship's engines. That pissed off my wife (first world problem), but I thought it was great because it gave us another Sea Day. Obviously, traversing through the Panama Canal was amazing. Have fun.
