HighHook Posted February 11, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 11, 2016 So we will on the Navigator for a 8-day trip in May, which has 3 'at sea' days. We plan to add on one of the drink packages for the length of the cruise. One of my favorite enjoyments is to sit on our balcony mid-afternoon, prior to dinner & enjoy a vodka or two. On past cruises I would take a bottle on-board; but I know they are getting more critical of that. So what's the best way to enjoy a few drinks in your room? Room service is often too slow; drink packages won't let you get multiple drinks & having to leave the room for each drink spools the mood. Is there another option that I'm not thinking of....without being a smuggler? Thx
Artemis908 Posted February 11, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 11, 2016 You can bring 2 bottles of wine with you when you board the ship. http://www.royalcaribbean.com/customersupport/faq/details.do?pagename=frequently_asked_questions&faqId=5442&faqSubjectId=336 You can also order a bottle of wine ahead of time and have it sent to your cabin. https://secure.royalcaribbean.com/royalgifts/onboard-delivery/wine-cellar/
spookwife Posted February 11, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 11, 2016 you can still bring 2 bottles of WINE per stateroom at embarkation with no problems at all. hard liquor has never been permitted. your option is to grab a glass from a bar on your way back to the room or switch to pre dinner wine that you bring on board. bouhunter Posted February 11, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 11, 2016 The nearest bar is never too far away:) Not sure why people mentioned wine when you were interested in cocktails......

George C Posted February 11, 2016 #9 Share Posted February 11, 2016 Would be nice if they had a mini-bar, I am sure some of the people on the Anthem this week could have used one.
jakenashleysmom Posted February 11, 2016 #10 Share Posted February 11, 2016 I would get the vodka neat, stock up a few during the day and add your own ice. Sent from my KFTHWI using Forums mobile app

They do but the mini bar is not in the drink package . They did tell the folks on anthem they could take stuff to the mini bar and not be charged

Sent from my KFTHWI using Forums mobile app I agree. You have the "coke cup," so simply grab a vodka and put it in your coke cup in your cabin and in the mini-frig on your way back now and then and fill the coke cup. Then you can get a drink to take back, and when it's done refill it.

YadaYadaJodi Posted February 11, 2016 #16 Share Posted February 11, 2016 If you don't want vodka neat or on the rocks - Do the same type of thing with cocktails - bring an empty Rubbermaid quart-size pitcher. During the day whenever you're going to your cabin, grab a cocktail without ice. Pour into your pitcher and keep cold in your mini-fridge (or a small cooler you brought on board and had your steward fill with ice). Have your steward bring you a bucket of ice every day. On way back to enjoy your afternoon balcony cocktail hour - grab a drink (with ice) and you have a glass to refill! :D
runawaysoul Posted February 11, 2016 #17 Share Posted February 11, 2016 If I did that, I wouldn't have any ice for my drink... That's what the wife is for. "Go get me a drink!" I'm just kidding!!!!!
YadaYadaJodi Posted February 11, 2016 #18 Share Posted February 11, 2016 That's what the wife is for. "Go get me a drink!" I'm just kidding!!!!! Or husband!! ;) Seriously, when we were on the Navigator in Oct 2015, my DH and I both had the Premium Package (and a balcony cabin) and we didn't have any trouble taking turns at bar runs and presenting 2 cards (his/hers) at a time and getting 2 drinks. [EXCEPT - one time late at night in the casino bar by DH tried to do that and they wouldn't let him. They were both for him that time so he just stayed at the bar and drank his 1st and brought only his 2nd back to the cabin.]

fas64 Posted February 11, 2016 #20 Share Posted February 11, 2016 I don't know why RCL will not sell you a bottle of sprits for your room it would help stop people smuggling booze on board On princess you can order a 35cl bottle to your room through service. the cost is $18 for 35cl bottle of Absolute Vodka, you can also order 5 beers for the price of
lv2bcruzin Posted February 11, 2016 #21 Share Posted February 11, 2016 Make a trip (or more :) ) to stock up your fridge before hand. To save your cocktails from getting watered down just empty out the ice before putting them in the fridge and have your ice bucket filled.

HighHook Posted February 11, 2016 Author #23 Share Posted February 11, 2016 Some good ideas.....and yes I was a smuggler; just trying to reform from my old ways. A few vodka's neat & and empty water bottle will get me thru....especially as I can use my wife's card...she will be drinking from the bottle of wine she brings. And I also agree with why not sell a bottle. Even with some up lift. Thanks all
