OCruisers Posted February 17, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 17, 2016 Dominica isn't know for having the best of beaches. Still, it's a lovely island.

TravlGrl Posted September 23, 2016 #6 Share Posted September 23, 2016 While Dominica is not at all known for beaches, my vote is for Mero Beach. There are little restaurants/bars right on the beach there. They look like shacks, but all is good. Service and food are fantastic and the locals are really helpful. Check out the Romance Bar or Connie's Restaurant, near each other on Mero Beach.

TravlGrl Posted July 19, 2017 #8 Share Posted July 19, 2017 (edited) Mero is about a 30-35 minute drive up north, on the same side of the island, from where the ship docks in Roseau. LaShelle2 Posted September 16, 2017 #10 Share Posted September 16, 2017 The black sand beach Mero is very unique. I suggest you do an island tour and include a stop there. The beauty of Dominica is not the beach but the island inland. We did a custom tour with Peppers tours.

PORT ROYAL Posted August 4, 2018 #12 Share Posted August 4, 2018 Does anyone know if its easy to get to Mero Beach on your own without the cruise excursion please? Easy, taxis at the pier. Fare about $25 each way. Nice swimming if the sand in sea is not churned up. Beautiful views. Not developed. Beds and umberella $10.00 but quality not great (Old) Small single changing room. Simple beach bar. Generous pours of local Rum. Plenty of taxis for return. Outward taxi will return for you.
