13cheermom Posted February 20, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 20, 2016 Does anyone know if the OBC for stock shareholders could be applied to a cruise that is using a discount off the fare? For example we received a 25% off on future cruise when our Bermuda cruise totally got rerouted due to hurricane last October. So was thinking about using that toward a cruise in November but wondered if we would still be able to get our shareholders OBC since the cruise is discounted. Anybody have any experience or knowledge bout this? Thanks!
EmmasNana Posted February 20, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 20, 2016 Yes, you can get your shareholder benefit OBC.

riffatsea Posted February 21, 2016 #7 Share Posted February 21, 2016 It never hurts to try and doesn't cost anything to ask sooo for whatever cruise you book just send in the info about the stock you own and see what Carnival says.
Plant Posted February 21, 2016 #8 Share Posted February 21, 2016 Yes, the stockholder credit is applied no matter what you paid for the cruise or what other OBC's you have.
DallasGuy75219 Posted February 21, 2016 #9 Share Posted February 21, 2016 Can the OBC benefit be used on other discounted cruises, such as a casino offer? I've gotten it on Premier cruises and been denied using Pack & Play rates. Didn't have the b@lls to try it on Bounceback cruises where I only paid taxes and port charges. Like everything else on Carnival, YMMV.

I've gotten credit for the shareholder OBC with a Pack & Play rate. Obviously a discounted rate but there are quite a few of them. Not sure why you were denied, or maybe why I was approved. As far a casino rate, yes it will apply.
13cheermom Posted February 21, 2016 Author #11 Share Posted February 21, 2016 Thanks everyone for the replies! Just wanted to make sure since in the fine print it states about the discounted fares, wondered which ones it applied to. I figured somebody would have experienced this and would know the answer. :D

Thought I'd give it a try again for my Pack & Play cruise on the Dream next month, so faxed everything this morning..... and denied again. Carnival is nothing if not inconsistent. DallasGuy75219 Posted February 23, 2016 #13 Share Posted February 23, 2016 (edited) Just wanted to make sure since in the fine print it states about the discounted fares, wondered which ones it applied to. I don't know that anyone (possibly including Carnival employees) definitively knows what specific fares the exception applies to. The language of the benefit is vague ("Certain restrictions apply" and "anyone cruising on a reduced-rate or complimentary basis are excluded from this offer") such that Carnival could find a reason to get out of giving the credit in almost any circumstance they desire. We have gotten our last 3 cruises(which includes 2 upcoming ones) which are Premier casino deals with a Free Ocean View cabin and I faxed in Our stock info and got the $100 OBC W No Problems so far......most recently I faxed in last Friday for Our March cruise and received a email showing the $100 OBC Yesterday We do Upgrade $$ each time from the Ocean View so I'm wondering if that puts it out of the category of being a totally Free cruise and that's why we get it the Stock OBC w No Prob..... NCTribeFan Posted February 23, 2016 #15 Share Posted February 23, 2016 Thanks everyone for the replies! Just wanted to make sure since in the fine print it states about the discounted fares, wondered which ones it applied to. I figured somebody would have experienced this and would know the answer. :D Just send it in and see. No reason not to try. I don't receive free offers, but I've used it on every cruise since I've been a shareholder (early 2009) and it's been applied to all, including the Premier sailings. You won't know until you submit it, though. Even if someone responds here that you're ineligible for the OBC, I'd send it in anyway. As noted, there is often no rhyme or reason to what Carnival does and very little in the way of consistency.

I read the entire phrase to apply to employees, travel agents, tour directors, etc. sailing at reduced/complimentary rates. I think you could almost say that every passenger on any ship has had some sort of sale or discount applied to their rate. If Carnival started denying all share holders their credit using unsavory practices there would be quite an uproar. http://phx.corporate-ir.net/External.File?item=UGFyZW50SUQ9Mjc0MjIzfENoaWxkSUQ9LTF8VHlwZT0z&t=1 Edited May 7, 2016 by Bookbug53

DebsterW Posted May 26, 2016 #18 Share Posted May 26, 2016 I submitted for the shareholder credit and it denied. I am sailing on a bounce back and paid port charges only. Would you try again?
jakesnana Posted May 27, 2016 #19 Share Posted May 27, 2016 I submitted for the shareholder credit and it denied. I am sailing on a bounce back and paid port charges only. Would you try again? I would try again and maybe try a different avenue for submitting. I sent my request via e-mail to guestadmin@carnival.com and attached a copy of my stockholder stmt. We are sailing on 7/23 on a bounce back offer and were given the OBC, so as someone said, CCL is DEFINITELY inconsistent.

Rare erber Posted June 11, 2016 #21 Share Posted June 11, 2016 We booked our cruise through a travel agent. We faxed our shareholder credit information and heard nothing back. So, I called yesterday and they said we were emailed (we never received the email) and it was denied because my name was not on the brokerage statement. My statement has the name of the account on the first page and only the account number on the rest of the pages. I faxed it again and wrote my name on the second page and circled it so we will see what happens. If it is denied again, not sure what to do. We have been on MANY Princess cruises and never had a problem having the shareholder OBC applied and of course I am providing the same documentation to Carnival that I have provided to Princess. As I booked the cruise through a travel agent will I be able to see the shareholder OBC applied on the itemized booking information in my cruise documents? Or do I need to either get an email or call for confirmation? Thanks.
NCTribeFan Posted June 11, 2016 #22 Share Posted June 11, 2016 Honestly, I think if you're sailing on a free cruise you shouldn't qualify. I'd probably think differently if it were me, but, c'mon folks. Don't be greedy! ;) As for account numbers, my shares are in an ETrade IRA. My statements don't show my name except on the front page. I include that front page with my name and account number (black out the rest), then the page showing my CCL stock with the acct number highlighted. Has always worked for me. I don't usually use a TA, but I'm pretty sure it showed up last cruise (on Vista, where we did use a TA group booking) on the 2nd page of the docs, under the itemization. I always get an email that they received my request (I email mine; I don't fax) and an email then when it's applied. I've had it applied as quickly as an hour; last time it took about a week. Yes, when you upgrade the free cabin offers, you can get the stockholders OBC. Otherwise, it would be rejected.

It does not work on the free cabin when you only pay taxes and port fees on the casino bounceback offers unless you pay extra to upgrade. Been denied every time.
