On our August cruise, we arrived at the pier approx 10:45. We were eating lunch around 12:15. We even made reservations for dining too.

or

I have heard others say arrive around 2:30 to 3PM and you should be on the tail end of crowd.

So we can check in at 2:00, what is the best time to arrive at the pier to avoid the rush?

I try getting there around 12. The other way is to wait until 3:30...

Even though they say 2:00 that is near the end of the rush. Doesn't the ship sail at 5? As long as it is in port on Time you can begin to board at around 11:30.

We sailed out of NYC in May and got there around 11. We were told to either get there very early or late to avoid long lines. 11 was perfect for us. We sat in chairs waiting to board and were on the ship within an hour. No problem at all. Take along a good attitude and things usually work out well.

We have sailed 3 times this year on the Dawn and have arrived at the pier by 11:15am. The latest we have been on the ship was 12:15pm. The earliest was 11:40am. In fact, we were the first passengers on the ship in September at 12:10pm.

The ship sails at 4:00pm and the lifeboat drill is at 3:30pm. Getting to the pier at 3:30pm is cutting it a little close.

Happy Sailing,

Monty

Those times work with the "summer 7 day itinerary" Keep in mind the Dawn was departing Nassau at noon back to the pier around 8:30am.

The eastern and Western 10/11 day now going on depart GSC at 2 pm. That puts the Dawn back in NYC at least an hour later in good weather. My guess like most of the last two winters boarding will not start until closer to 1 pm on a good day.

The ship is still scheduled to sail at 4:00 PM

All passengers must be onboard no later then 30 minutes prior. Planning to be at the pier any later then 2:30 is in fact cutting it too close.

If you don't mind waiting come early before passengers start to disembark. Or plan to arrive around 2 pm when on a good day most will already be onboard.

We will see what time the Dawn docks in a few days.
