campboo Posted October 14, 2005 #1 Share Posted October 14, 2005 We're considering the 2-person bubble sub tour when we get to GC in late November. Has anyone done this? Can you provide feedback -- did you book through RCCL or privately? Was it worth the money ($198/person, through RCCL)? Thanks in advance for information. flexiblefine Posted October 19, 2005 #2 Share Posted October 19, 2005 We did the 2-person bubble sub in 2003, on our honeymoon. My wife is a swimmer, and I'm a land beast -- but we both loved it. The lady in the couple who went ahead of us came back saying she would never snorkel again, because she was so impressed. You're basically in a 5-foot plexiglass bubble, and you can see all around you. You're underwater for about 45 minutes, looking at fish, coral, and the sea floor. The guy driving the thing sits outside in a wetsuit and mask, and you can chat with him as he drives you around and points things out. Feel free to take photographs, but do it with no flash. Autofocus may occasionally focus on the bubble, but most of my photos came out just fine, if blue from the water. We booked ours through RCCL, and I think we both believe it was worth the money. It's definitely better than the Nautilus we did on our most recent visit.
campboo Posted October 20, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted October 20, 2005 Flexiblefine, Thanks so much for responding to my inquiry. I was beginning to think that no one had ever done this excursion and I wasn't sure we wanted to be the guinea pigs. It sounds like a true adventure, so I think we'll try it. Thanks again for your feedback.
