sambasue63 Posted March 31, 2016 #4 Share Posted March 31, 2016 Thanks for sharing this link. We are due to stop at Piraeus on our cruise in July.
Rare cruisemom42 Posted March 31, 2016 #5 Share Posted March 31, 2016 I wonder if this isn't a bit like the "riots" in Athens a couple of summers ago. That is, blown out of all proportion by the media. Those who actually were in Athens realized the issues were only in a very specific area, easily avoided. trvlgirlmq Posted March 31, 2016 #6 Share Posted March 31, 2016 This is the ferry port which is located across the water from the ships as you can see in the picture. There has never been any indication that the migrants have been anywhere near where the big cruise ships dock.
Bandit295 Posted April 7, 2016 #7 Share Posted April 7, 2016 Cruise scheduled for Sept 2016. Just concerned about immigrant activity, safety etc. First time doing a Med Cruise. Thanks.
Rare John Bull Posted April 7, 2016 #8 Share Posted April 7, 2016 This is the ferry port which is located across the water from the ships as you can see in the picture. There has never been any indication that the migrants have been anywhere near where the big cruise ships dock. My thoughts exactly. And that all looks pretty orderly. I could post far far worse photos of Calais, & frighten the living daylights out of tourists. But Calais is a port I visit frequently & I have never had the tiniest problem. Now, where did I put my photos of the riots in L.A.? ;) JB :)
need2cruisesoon Posted April 9, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted April 9, 2016 Good news here: Greek authorities will deport refugees now living in and around the port of Piraeus. Good news if this is your one of your ports this summer: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3531417/Greek-authorities-vow-clear-Tent-City-ahead-summer-tourism-season-hundreds-migrants-sent-Turkey.html
