Jonjhawk Posted April 2, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 2, 2016 We are looking at booking a cruise in January and have only been on southern cruises then. We were wondering what is the temperature for sea days and at ports during January for Honduras Belize and Cozumel. We just want to make sure it's nice (like 70's or higher) the whole time. rocco329 Posted April 2, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 2, 2016 We are also looking at a January Cruise. The Liberty has great prices for a Western but my husband is concerned about weather. We have been on a cruise in early January from Port Canaveral and froze there and in Coco-cay. Then on the last Sea day back. Then we went on Indi mid January and had very warm weather in Ft. Lauderdale out and all of the sea days and ports. Flying into San Juan is very expensive for our family of 6 so we are trying to avoid that. We also can only take a 7-8 day cruise due to school and jobs. Has anyone done a western in mid January? If so how was your weather?
Jonjhawk Posted April 2, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted April 2, 2016 I hate flying into San Juan! We went on an eastern in December one year and it was chilly the first two days but then pretty nice after that.
Rare Keith1010 Posted April 2, 2016 #4 Share Posted April 2, 2016 You just never know. I would say on average 70's. Could be warmer but could be cooler. We were there this January and cooler. We were there two years before and warmer. You just never know what weather will be like in most places these days. Keith
dplusd Posted April 2, 2016 #5 Share Posted April 2, 2016 The ports will have nice temperatures, probably well into the 70's. Water temps will be a bit cold. If you are departing Galveston, there is a small risk of fog that time of year that could delay your departure or arrival. Also, the first day out and last day back will be cooler, possibly too cool for the pool deck. But, the western ports should have nice, comfortable weather! FloatMe Posted April 2, 2016 #6 Share Posted April 2, 2016 We embarked in Galveston for new years 2014 cruise and the weather in in all of the ports (Belize, Roatan, and Cozumel) was perfect. Galveston was a bit chilly, low 50s. Weather underground has the best/easiest historical data. You can look look at a weather conditions for a particular day and see the data for the past 10 years. FloatMe Posted April 2, 2016 #7 Share Posted April 2, 2016 Cozumel (because it's the farthest north) for Jan 10th https://www.wunderground.com/history/airport/MMCZ/1972/1/10/PlannerHistory.html?req_city=MMCZ&req_state=&req_statename=Mexico&reqdb.zip=00000&reqdb.magic=4&reqdb.wmo=76648
Love PalmTrees Posted April 2, 2016 #8 Share Posted April 2, 2016 We just were on Celebrity WC cruise late Jan/early Feb. Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Ocho Rios were all in low 80's. Last port, Coco Cay was replaced by Nassau due to an incoming weather system and potential problems with tendering. Nassau was sunny and in low 80's until just as we were departing. The system came in along with a sudden 15 degree temp drop, ugly gray clouds and rough seas.
frawnsay Posted April 2, 2016 #9 Share Posted April 2, 2016 We're going in 2017, so this year, I added our ports into my weather app to see what it will be like on our cruise. Cozumel, Jamaica, & Haiti all had highs in the low 80s Jan&Feb. [emoji41]
