dakotahrb Posted April 6, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 6, 2016 Does anyone have any recommendations for things to do when we are in Belize City? Or if there is a beach close by.
Rare crewsweeper Posted April 7, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 7, 2016 (edited) Only one beach on the mainland, a manmade beach called Cucumber Beach in Old Belize that's used primarily by locals and has a connected marina for local boats. You'll need an excursion to one of the cayes if you want to go to a beach. Best things to do in Belize are cavetubing and Maya ruins. Followed by zip lining (often attached to cave tubing excursions). Then snorkeling excursions. And finally just a beach. Podie Posted April 8, 2016 #3 Share Posted April 8, 2016 Umm, the "mainland" goes south more than 100 miles and there are plenty of beaches. Getting there is the problem. I stay at a resort outside Hopkins, Belize twice a year but take a little plane 15 minutes to get there. Take a ferry to Caye Caulker or Ambergris or an excursion to one of the other islands. OCruisers Posted April 11, 2016 #5 Share Posted April 11, 2016 To get to a decent beach you'll need to take some sort of water transportation to one of the barrier islands. :)
tomko2 Posted April 12, 2016 #6 Share Posted April 12, 2016 We stay on the ship in Belize. The tender process is long. Easter weekend we were on the Independence -- there were 2000 people going on RCL sponsored excursions and over 3600 people left the ship through the tender process. Process started early (not sure of precisely when but around 8 am) last tender left the ship at 1:30pm. Last tender for going back to the ship from Belize was scheduled to leave Belize at 4 pm. Best bet is to take a ship sponsored excursion.

BrotherCraig Posted April 12, 2016 #8 Share Posted April 12, 2016 Coral Breeze has great excursions out to the Cayes. They have one that does the Shark Ray Alley snorkeling and they also take you to Caye Caulker island. We love that place. Very laid back fishing village type of place with cool bars, restaurants, and shops. You can not do the snorkeling and just hang out and explore Caye Caulker. They can arrange golf cart rental to get your around the small island. I believe Carnival and RCI has that excursion as well but they include the Snorkeling AND Caye Caulker. I highly suggest it.
