Susiecruisey Posted April 11, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 11, 2016 Anyone used Uber instead of a cab to Port. Say from Holiday Inn express on 17th to Port Everglades.
JohninDC Posted April 11, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 11, 2016 You can use the search function on this board to find many posts about Uber in FLL & Miami -- most of the reports are positive. Be careful about surge pricing.
royalcruz Posted April 11, 2016 #3 Share Posted April 11, 2016 Uber can go to the port. We used them from the port to home with no problem. I think there was a small port surcharge.
Lou33 Posted April 12, 2016 #4 Share Posted April 12, 2016 We took Uber from Extended Stay America on 17th street to Port Everglades. It was $5.80. The driver arrived in about 2 minutes. Uber is the way to go from your hotel to the port. Even if I had a free shuttle, I would take Uber.

Lou33 Posted April 13, 2016 #7 Share Posted April 13, 2016 (edited) Two people each with a checked bag and a carry-on. Uber-X or XL? Uber-X is fine for two people with luggage. It was $5.83 total, not per person. If you have 3 then Uber-X may not work with two bags each. You need to assume that you will be getting something like a Toyota Prius. Lou33 Posted April 14, 2016 #10 Share Posted April 14, 2016 We could take 2 Ubers... Lo! No, just take Uber-XL, they cost about 50% more, but they are large vans or SUVs.
LisaT91403 Posted December 2, 2016 #11 Share Posted December 2, 2016 I tried posting regarding my specific hotel (Hilton Beach Resort), but haven't gotten any replies...so I will try here. Is Uber the way to go from FLL to the Hilton, and then from the Hilton to the port? Or should we be using a taxi? We are 4 people plus luggage. JohninDC Posted December 2, 2016 #12 Share Posted December 2, 2016 With 4 plus bags (especially if any of you pack like my wife :o) you'll ned UberXL or a mini-van/SUV taxi. Fares should be pretty close - the van/SUV cabs charge the same as a standard taxi.
IndyDenise Posted December 2, 2016 #13 Share Posted December 2, 2016 Uber is better than a cab. You pay by the app, no chance of a taxi scam. I will never ever take another cab in Fort Lauderdale if Lyft or Uber is there! 3/4 taxi trips the cabbies tried to scam me Sent from my iPhone using Forums
gottaluvcruises12 Posted May 26, 2017 #14 Share Posted May 26, 2017 What about from FLL to Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale? Does it cost less than the shuttle?
JohninDC Posted May 26, 2017 #15 Share Posted May 26, 2017 Yes - unless you are travelling solo. FLL airport to PE in an UberX should be about $9-10 compared to $15+ for a taxi and $8-10+ per person in a shared shuttle.
WVU_Neal Posted May 28, 2017 #16 Share Posted May 28, 2017 What about from FLL to Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale? Does it cost less than the shuttle? Both the Uber app and website can give you quite accurate fare estimates. If you have never used Uber, get a referral code from a friend (or use mine) and both get $15 off their first/next ride. My code is 6y3g9 Neal
