We were talking and not paying attention and totally missed the stairs to go down, but we did find a restaurant and took some quick shots.

Since we had passed the aquarium entrance we backtracked and headed down the stairs.

Going through the Dig, it has an Atlantis story theme, so there are props throughout the tunnels.

Some of these displays were just so beautiful and the camera couldn’t capture all the vibrant colors.

They had laminated sheets that would tell you what the fish were, etc. Very nice and we could pick them up or drop them off at various places. When we got back to the ship I saw several people with them….Um those weren’t to take home with you. Hahaha. I suppose Atlantis would never miss them.

I tried to take a video, but of course once I did that, the guy didn’t flip back over like he had in the past.

I have never seen eels actually swim in real life. They usually just hang out and look out from their hiding spots. It was really cool…and creepy. Some would swim and others would stay still, then they would move. Really creepy!

I actually remember a lot of the areas from my previous time here, which had to be about 13 years ago. In fact I had my picture right there on that same bench. Wish I was that skinny now.

Ellen and I had both been to Atlantis once before, but I think the other 3 had never been. We wanted to take it all in and walk around and see as much as we could.

We moved on and took more pictures. See this smaller blue sign next to the bigger sign? It says we can’t go beyond that sign without the proper wristband…meaning we had to be a resort guest or someone who purchased one of the qualifying packages.

Shoot! But no one was monitoring the area so we just casually walked through pretending not to notice the sign…I didn’t see it, did you?

My oldest daughter Paige used to love the Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen home videos and we had so many VHS’s of their adventures. One of their movies involved them going to Atlantis. I actually really liked the show because I loved seeing the resort and when Skip and I went on our honeymoon we took a NCL cruise and stopped in Nassau. We came to Atlantis then and toured the Dig back then. Before we left I watched that movie over and over to get myself in the Bahamas mood! (I think we still have it in storage somewhere…I should go look)

After watching a few people come down the slide, we moved over around the side. There was a tank of sharks…..and the one waterslide went right through it…..though they were in a tube so no harm would come to them.

The sharks didn’t seem to care that lunch was blasting pass them.

I tried to get a shot of a person sliding through but the picture did not come out so I am not even going to bother sharing it.

I believe these are stairs leading to one of the slides.

So we walked around some more and took in the sights. Brook started having a bad coughing fit. Brook was just getting over a killer case of bronchitis. She had been sick for over a month and finally went to the Dr.s before the trip and he scolded her for not coming in sooner….so she was on lots of meds to help her get well. Up until now, you really couldn’t tell she had been sick except that she would lose her voice every so often. I don’t know what triggered it but she could now barely breath because she was coughing so hard. I told her I would get her a drink. I ran over to one of the stands and asked for a coke and diet coke. I wasn’t sure what she liked and I figured I would drink whatever she didn’t drink. Thing to note…they do not take cash at any of these food stands. You have to charge it to your room or use a credit card. Thank goodness I had one with me.

I grabbed the drinks and gave Brook her choice and she downed it and felt better.

We walked a bit more and chatted.

26031418592_76797f9f1a_z.jpgbah24 by Jenseib, on Flickr

I think we find a bathroom and used it and continued looking over the grounds. I think we must have been in a deep conversation because I don’t have any pictures during this time.

We then were kind of feeling hungry. We had talked about eating lunch here but we decided we would have a snack now. A couple decided they would just go back to the ship for lunch and Ellen asked if I would go to a place that served great chowder with her. I am always ready to tackle some chowder.

A couple of the gals got a hot pretzel. Ellen got one and I was thinking on whether I wanted one or not and she said she would share it with me. It was pretty good. Not the best I have ever had, but I liked it. Patty did not like hers at all. I am not sure if she got a bad one or if she just didn’t like this particular style. I thought I had taken pictures of them, but I don’t see it in my album, so I guess I am hallucinating.

We found a spot to sit and enjoy our snacks.
