settingsail Posted October 17, 2005 #1 Share Posted October 17, 2005 Hello Well , as per the weather channel there is yet another hurricane warning out for the Western Caribbean this time . They projected path is somewhere near the Caymens . Oh , please please please don't let it become a major threat , we are leaving on November 26th to the Western Carib and I have never went during or right after the hurricane season but I truely am looking forward to this cruise with my parents and my DD's as this will be the first cruise with them. Does anyone know anymore about hurricane Wilma ? Do they typically shut down port for a time after a hurricane ? Will they take us somewhere else if they do get hit hard ? Thanks so much ! negc Posted October 17, 2005 #2 Share Posted October 17, 2005 Wilma will be long gone by the time you cruise,so, unless the storm hits one of the ports on your itinerary and does extensive damage, you should be fine. If she does extensive damage to one of the ports of call, the cruiseline will change its itinerary and take that into account. After serious storm damage hit Grand Cayman, the port was closed to all cruise ships for several months, and many hotels closed for a lengthy period for repairs. When we were there in May, you could still see many blue tarps on roofs of buildings that had been damaged. Keep an eye on the weather but don't stress out about things over which you have no control. Think positive thoughts and be prepared to be flexible and you will have a wonderful time.:)
