Very Frequent Flyer Posted April 20, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 20, 2016 Can I use my OBC to pay for gratuities? I have $900 OBC for an upcoming cruise and I don't think I will use up the entire $900. So rather than paying up front using my credit card as part of my cruise fare, I was thinking of letting RC add the gratuities to my on board account and deduct it from the $900 OBC. Yes, as long as you don't prepay gratuities.
DonnaK Posted April 20, 2016 #3 Share Posted April 20, 2016 Yes, we do this every time (apply OBC towards gratuities)
matj2000 Posted April 20, 2016 #4 Share Posted April 20, 2016 I hope you can. We had a $350 OBC and scrambled the last days trying to find anything to spend it on. I don't know what I would do with $900..........

EatonDoolittle Posted April 20, 2016 #6 Share Posted April 20, 2016 I have $900 OBC for an upcoming cruise and I don't think I will use up the entire $900. . Over on the Celebrity board, about half way down on the first page, is a thread called "A list of what to spend OBC on". Many obvious ones, but people are adding some you may not have thought of. I don't know how to link threads, maybe somebody who does know how to will bring it over here for you.
cb at sea Posted April 20, 2016 #7 Share Posted April 20, 2016 Anything you charge to your shipboard account will be offset by any OBC you have. It's simply a credit to your account!
firefox247 Posted April 20, 2016 #8 Share Posted April 20, 2016 I would definitely pay your "gratuities" with OBC, but if you have some left over that is non-refundable, you can always go to the casino and take it out in cash for a 5% fee. Pipo Posted April 20, 2016 #9 Share Posted April 20, 2016 Spend it on what you want, and if something remains by the end of the cruise... go to the casino's cashier and say: CA$H! CA$H! CA$H!
travelbuddies Posted April 20, 2016 #10 Share Posted April 20, 2016 You can go to guest services and ask how much can be cashed in and get the cash there instead of the casino who will charge you 5%. I was able to get $170 back from guest services last year the second to last day of the cruise.
